The next section in my Derby Canal mapping project where Im flying the complete route of the original canal which is being restored. My flights are to help promote their work and to visualise the route.
As well as flying the entire route Ive walked it surveying it for Google Street view which consists of 3,623 photos !
The drone was getting a lot of interest from Swifts in this section of the flights so had to go up to 300ft to avoid them.

Another interesting video Andy. Pity about those birds!
How long will the project take on site?

Thanks, yes Swifts seem to take a lot of interest in the drone.
I can imagine it will take decades to get this canal back fully in water, it was abandoned in the 60s
Looks more like reconstruction than restoration! Hopefully when it was filled in they left everything there under the new surface. Nice video by the way

A lot of it has just been back filled, the structure and puddle clay is still there, some sections still have some water in them as it can’t drain away but yes a massive project.
See my Borrowash video as that has a lock in it…
