Just seen this… maybe inline with a new goggle headset?
Yes it would appear to be DJI’s latest FPV product, but not in the strictest sense. It appears to be basically a Mini3 with ducts, no ACRO mode, and as to be expected no backward compatibility with the previous DJI products.
To be honest, based on the assumed spec’s, it’s no more a FPV drone than my Parrot Anafi, 3DR Solo, Mini2, Spark, Phantom1, all of which I can fly with a goggle.
Maybe the FPV goggle V1/V2 and the Air units were not as profitable as DJI had hoped for, but if an FPV orientated company had released the same product it would have been considered to be a roaring success based on sales volumes alone.
I can possibly foresee a very rocky road for the DominatorHD/Avatar system when you have three different entities (Fatshark, Walksnail, RedCat Holdings), with three different philosophies, all vying for what they think they are owed. Add to that the recent rant by Drew (Le Drib), CEO of Rotor Riot, telling his customers that they have no right in knowing what the new system is, they just need to pony up the pre-order money and be happy.
I feel FPV in its truest sense, a community driven hobby, is being violently raped by corporate greed.
Now if you’ll excuse me there’s a particularly offending cloud I must go yell at.
It is a rather menacing looking cloud
Never fear! HDZero is here!
I mean, seriously, when they start talking open source, that just gives me the warm fuzzies.
I don’t have any HD goggles yet, but I’m looking on HDZero with considerable interest!
You need to update your username to FOSSedout then (Free and open-source software - Wikipedia for those not in the know)
I have to say, being one of the people who have no HD stuff as yet, The fact that the HDZero has an analogue VRX bay is making it seem the best option when I finally do dip my toe, given that I’m never going to just dump all my analogue stuff and (probably) won’t be in a position to retrofit. I really don’t want to carry 2 goggles. I’m definitely going to wait to replace my aging and huge(but fine for what I do) EV800D.
The looks of the HDZero are not as nice as the FatShark goggles, but given my already “agricultural” looks, I doubt they’d make any difference to people who have to see me wearing them…
It’s an often overlooked area of DJI Goggles. This has the ability to fit an analogue module such as rapid-fire by using one of a number of adapters starting from as little as £16 to allow usage for both HD and analogue drones.
I moved to DJI but still have 3/4 analogue quads that I use often this way.
The one thing it does is highlight how bad analogue is vs HD.
Just a shame that DJI arent that clear with their plans for FPV right now
Ooooh. ‘Conversion of dji people’? So they think dji are leaving their system too?
I like the idea on an hd module though. That’s something dji missed out on
I love the idea of a module too As long as it retains full functionality and isnt a ‘lite’ version
It might only be 720p only if for existing goggles.
BUT, People wont buy their goggles if they are too expensive, they’ll buy the hdzero ones and the fs module. Then there’s the two systems in one.
Really need to change the name though
Was thinking exactly that lol would give you the choice of Walksnail, HDZero or Analogue all in one goggle, then you could pick your horses for courses and use whichever best suits the situation
Which awesome name are you refering to? Walksnail, or Avatar?
GepRC are making a new Mark5 bnf with the new Fatshark/Walksnail system pre installed. This system seems to be building traction fairly fast
I asked caddx if they where going to make an hdzero camera. Their reply as a flat “NO”
So they will work with other companies but just not HDZero?
