Maybe its in their dji contract.
Maybe itsblunty will blow his top again
Yeah could be, HDZero will be their direct competition I suppose
You can now redesign the hdzero goggles design and print your own case
Yeah, saw this last night on the JB stream - I’m currently printing out current goggles design. I started printing it last night, but it won’t be done until tomorrow for just the main body…
I think it’ll take another 2-3 days before I’ve finished printing eveyrthing
Just opened the STEP file. Hmm…
However, it is hiding in there.
Not sure I’d want to do any serious design work with it, but it’s impressive.
Yeah… I could see me wanting to make small additions or customisations. But nothing much.
However I hope that others can make commercial modifications and sell the stuff they produce. Or even put the mods up for free for us to print. The possibilities are almost endless…
So much potential here…
well… I finished printing the first 2 main pieces… and well… it is obvious that a redesign is needed if these are going to be 3d printed - there is just no way these .stl files will work due to the support structures needed and the very slight angles and edges.
The biggest issue is that there isn’t any large area where a 3d printer can build from due to tiny lips and slight angles… so there is a massive raft made underneath the prints to support it… but with the thin walls and delicate features on the inside, well, I’ve already broken some of it just trying to remove the generated supports.
I’m going to re-orient these and see if I can get a less troublesome angle… but I think the original cad file will need to be edited to just make this more 3d printer friendly
That’s what I thought when I first saw them. Kudos to you for even trying.
No chance lol I reckon around £600 and probably even more by the time they finish adding the laser guided auto pilot system and everything else the community are asking for
You reckon they’ll sell only the guts of the goggle, at a cheaper price, so that people can put together their own?
I wouldn’t be surprised if the individual components cost more than the packaged kit - it all depends on production at scale savings, if any.
Possibly. Just dont know but its good to know that pro companies can make the shell and make 100 percent profit. I wont print one cos i print like a potato (as i fly). But I’d buy a cool shell
Kind of curious to see how all this will work out…
The goggles market is practically stalled right now waiting for this and the fatsharks/walksnail stuff…
I’ve successfully printed the main bottom half of the goggle by putting it at 45º with tree supports - minimal support points (there was a lot still) but all easily removed - 12 hours to print.
The nose bridge was a key point of support, and I think that will need some tape padding to avoid any… rough rubbing.
I’ve got the top piece printing now with an estimated 14-15 hour print.
Top piece rolled off the printer - again at 45º with tree supports - more stuff to clean up, but still fairly easy to remove.
and with top and bottom clipping together:
Something I note is missing is the bit of attaching a head band to the goggles… it’s there in the renders, but not in the stl’s. Just have the extra bits (2-3 hours) and the face plate (9 hours).
Probably because its going to be a metal part.
