Digital FPV.....DJI vs HDZero vs Orqa vs Walksnail vs openhd.....?

This would be perfect giving the option of higher latency with better image quality when you want it but lower latency with reduced image quality when its necessary :star_struck:
I guess none of this will be possible with the new goggles as they would need a transmitter built into the hardware which as far as I know is not the case

@Steviegeek there is talk on fb that the lower latency suits gentlemen with lower reactions…

Maybe not. I think the retransmit is for penetration. The quality is due to the compression? h265 whatever that means?

The way I understand it (and thats probably not very well) the retransmit is for image quality, retransmitting lost packets of data. This would relate to penetration in the respect that youre more likely to lose packets of data while penetrating objects. The h265 compression codec as far as I know allows for higher, more effcient compression but without any quality loss

I didn’t read it that way. I thought the retransmit was to recover bad frames or blocks.
And I understood that the compression gives a smoother image. I think @Yith has a better understanding.

Is that not the same thing? Lol

No doubt lol Im only going on what Ive read and watched but there is every chance Ive not fully understood

Is that why I’ve bought a Herelink system at 100ms

Is that a constant 100ms Steve or is it variable?

This is what you said

think it’s constant but I get 1080p at 30km, it’s for long range cruising not flippy floppy

Nice! :star_struck:

It’s for the VTX to retransit the frames that the VRX says it did not get

The thing is, I watched wes’s video. A 1000ms delay (1s) is really bad. But not at 10 miles out. It’s doable. And the image is nice. But with proper antennae, the latency was stable

Yeah so by retransmitting the lost data packets it improves image quality. Or have I missed something here?

I thought the retransmit was to recover lost packets in a bando. dunno now

Correct on both counts.
Though I understand HDZERO does not compress at all. So it really should look better than dji at the same resolution. This is why 1080p excites me so much.

So one thing I really want to try is when HDZERO gets a bad packet, which I am sure it could identifiy with a CRC, then it could just keep the last packet on the screen. This should have a similar effect to DJI’s retransmission stuff without the bollocks off retransmission itself.

What does it matter if a few pixels go down in latency a bit for a frame if you can see just a slight bit better. Penetration just a bit easier to deal with.

I think it is mate but I think it also works the same over long range too when packets are lost

There’s only one way to find out. I’ll have to get the ws vrx

This would be awesome but Ive seen this suggested in the HDZero fb group in the past and its always been shot down because to detect any lost pixels the image needs to be processed before being corrected and displayed and they said that 1. The HDZero ASIC isnt capable of this because it was never designed for that purpose and 2. Even if it was possible the processing would add latency to the system and no one wants added latency who flys HDZero lol
