Disconnected Atom 2

While flying my Atom 2 today it was returning home and at about 400 feet out and 150 feet up, it decided to disconnect from the controller. It did follow its RTH instructions, rose up to 390 feet before landing on the grass in my garden. A worrying few minutes for me and a first for my drone to disconnect mid flight and not reconnect again until after it had landed.

Has anyone else had this happen to them, (and I’m sure someone has), but more importantly, does anyone know what would cause a drone to disconnect from the controller?

Quite a few possibilities here

Were you flying in an urban environment? Wifi interference?

Does the Atom generate log files? If so, please upload them here and we’ll take a look for some clues.

I’ve not been able to find any log files, although I’ll carry on looking. It was flying in an urban environment so WiFi could be a good reason, I never even thought of that. Next time I fly from my garden I’ll try returning at a much higher altitude to see if that helps.

Be careful of RTH at 400ft, it can be quite windy up there.

Well everyday is a school day! I found the flight log, (never knew about them until now, thanks PingSpike). Not sure how to upload all of it but this is a screenshot of when it disconnected.

Looking at the basic info on the screen shot I’d agree with earlier posts re WiFi heavy area

A little more flight info on this one, but WiFi seems a pretty good reason, it’s just not happened to me before when flying here.

I blame Pixsync 4.0

Could the aerials see the drone ?

Yes I had the aerial facing the drone. It flew out to around 1300 feet away at around 300 feet up with no issues and was returning home. I stopped it around 400 feet out to adjust the camera and that’s when it disconnected.
