So i had the aton 2 for a little over a month.
Have over 20 hours flying and while initialy quite happy, i got more and more disapointed in the overall quality.
Pictures were allways a little blurry even though looked ok at a glance.
Video was not to bad but in perfect condition no wind and good light i was still not seeing the quality i wanted.
The flying of it i was very happy with and the functions, its just the quality of what is taken.
Im realy pushing the budget and cant got for anything more than the current price of mini 4 pro with fly more, Is it the best im going to get at that price. Currently on offer at 729
Any thought, issues, pro points stuff i might not have considered ext.
I allready have flyer id and opperator id and insurance ext so ill be good to go.
Do we know if it will come marked uk0 or will it be old stock and just 0 like my atom 2 was (since that was before 2026
You’ll have to wait for the Mavic 5, Air 4, or Mini 6 Pro if you want to buy a drone with a UK class mark.
The Mini 4 Pro remains an excellent drone. The differences in photo quality between it and the Mini 5 Pro are negligible. The 5 can fly in slightly stronger winds, and has a very useful custom panorama function, but apart from that the 4 won’t disappoint.
I got a Mini 4 pro almost a year ago, and it’s a fantastic piece of kit. With the new regs the issue is with night flying. If you don’t intend to fly at night then no issue.
Before I had a mini 2SE, great little drone though not used much since mini 4 pro purchase.
Recently got Air 3S, good for night flying (green flashing lights), and other issues concerning C0 class drones.
I went from thinking about atom2 to mini4k to mini 3pro then i went full in on phantom 4pro for quality picture mechanical shutter and robustness plus budget i know it all comes down to personell preference but after spending over a month reviewing and comparing… it boiled down to what i could afford and the fact not spending too much on something i wasnt sure i would enjoy i can always up grade if i do
The size matters alot to alot but for me the P4P has pedigree and and known quality i find smaller drones dont do windy conditions like P4P
I weighed my Mini 4 Pro when the hoo-haa about the weight of the Mini 5 Pro was on: 249g with the calibrated scales in the lab. The built-in green strobes on the Mini 4 are fine for night flying… …as long as you stick to stills instead of video. The strobes only switch off when actually recording. It’s not an issue for me.
Also, top tip if photographing at night: you’ll get better results using the native 12MP rather than recording in 48MP. In daylight, the opposite is true.
I had an Atom 2 last spring, and I found it a very competent drone, and is still the only drone you can activate RID on at the moment (if you should want to). I upgraded to DJI drones because at the time the Atom 2 wouldn’t perform waypoint missions - a recent firmware upgrade has remedied this.
I then worked my way up the DJI food chain, with a Mini 3, a Mini 4 Pro and a Mini 5 Pro. Of these, I still have the Mini 4 Pro. All the Mini series produce better images than the Atom, and the later models have more bells and whistles, which you may or may not need.
You won’t be disappointed with a Mini 4. Have a look at the DJI website for their refurbished drones, which are a bit cheaper than brand new ones. All the components of the Fly More package are available seperately so you could build your kit up bit by bit if that helps the budget.
I bit the bullet and ordered a new mini 2 pro fly more.
Looking forward to new flight.
Thanks again. With this and some you tubing i decided whats worst that could happen i try and i dont think this time ill need to return. Just like on bread and water for abit lol.
Remember, Gold members get a discount at Flytron, who just happen to sell the stupidly bright Strobon Crees, which are already about half the price of what you’ve linked to here.
I’ll do it next year. I got done hub and the insurance with them. Same kind of desl, before i even found this place but get much more interaction and warm feeling here.
Flytron are very busy at the moment thanks to the new night rule but they’re worth waiting for. I ordered Jan 1st, no sign of them being delivered yet.
Hi I bought Mini 4 pro back end of November and paid £499 for drone and RC2 from Costco and then bought a couple of extra batteries and charger from drones direct for £120. Didn’t need bag as got loads of old camera bags which do the job.
I’m a big fan of camera price buster site which is currently showing combo kit at Curry’s for £699
I did look for used and found drone hangar website have some good offers on used with only a few hours flying.
So far based on the flights I have done I’m really pleased with the quality and functionality. I’m still trying to decide whether to keep my Neo or use the proceeds to by some ND filters.
I have the mini 2 se- amazing drone and you can add the flytron LED in green and it is still under 250gram. The mini 4 pro is an amazing drone and now it is cheaper because of the mini 5, in my mind its a no brainer, get the mini 4, buy the flytron LED and with the new 2026 regs, the weight isnt a problem. The mini 5 pro is a fantastic peice of machinery but is it worth the extra money? For me it isnt.
Got the mini 4 pro today and weighed in at 246g
With battery and sd card
Looking at the link you sent the leds look good but says they weigh 5.8g so would take it over 250 to allmost 252g
In tje pack i got with it was a c1 sticker i belive this would allow the drone to weight up to 900g and if i understand the rules right would just mean i have to transmin rid as we allready have flyer and opp id’s
Im not saying i should or want to make it c1 just saying whats in pack and what i belive impact would be.
Any thoughts on c0 vs c1 other than the rid being mandatory where as optional i c0.
It’s not really just as simple as sticking the C1 sticker on it now. Under pressure from EASA, DJI have stopped users from re-certifying their aircraft. It wasn’t ever just a sticker, but firmware too, and you had a verify this with DJI. No, any C0 drone will remain thus, unless and until there’s a mechanism to register it as a UK1 aircraft.
Also, whatever headroom you may have under 250g, you can only attach “approved accessories” to the aircraft if you want it to retain its certification. Any non-approved equipment will render it a legacy drone.
Thanks i new it wasnt just add sti ker it was add sti kers apply via app with proce photos and when approved get firmware ext.
I wasnt aware the process has been halted.
Im just doing all the updates ext.
I would like to option where legal to fly at night.
Taking photo in current state.
But if there was a way to add stobe and use vidio its a bonus but was not a deal braker hence why my option for mini 4.
I waited this long to save for a nice bit of kit and intend to keep it lol
Next dilema is dji refrwsh or not before it to late lol
Seems like a good idea, but ive seen both sides of the coin. Low cost repair often same prive as the subscription. And fly away cost an extra few hundred at time excess. Decisions Decisions
I would definitely recommend DJI care & refresh. Like all insurance policies you may never need it, however if it all goes tits up its the quickest & imo the cheapest way to replace your drone.
