Well I’ve gone and done it… Having looked for used dji fpv goggles and realising how expensive they can be I thought I would attemp to make my own.
I had a pair of VR goggles laying about so I removed the lenses and replaced them with a fresnel lens. Due to my age (!) I still couldn’t focus on the phone when it was attached. Moving it 50mm forward would fix that. So that’s what I did using various bits of wood and plastic.
It worked. I haven’t flown yet as the weather is poop but I can put my phone in the front of the goggles and view the image perfectly in the dark. It’s like a tiny cinema. Can’t wait to have a go…
