Just been reading that the Air4 could be a sub 250g drone, not sure how that will go down. The main reason I wanted to get the Air3s was for better stability in the wind with it being a heavier drone than the Mini5 Pro and having the 70mm zoom.

The DJI Air 4 won’t be a sub-250g drone, Barry

moving forward the Sub250 is really only applicable outside of the UK as now C1/UK1 drones upto 900g are treated as equals of the sub250 club

Hi Spike I wouldnt have thought so but its mentioned in a promotional video I watched.

I’m pretty new to this drone malarky and enjoying it. I was unaware of this new 900g law. I have read up on the sub 250g laws but are you saying I could fly an Air3s in the exact same ways as a mini 5 pro? I read and research things quite a bit before getting involved with anything but have to admit I’ve not read about that. I’ll have to do some seious googling now.

100% that is what I am saying

Check out this awesome tool by from the club to help you know - these are part of the new rules that came in as of the start of this year.

Ooh I should have been more vigilant in my reading. As soon as the Avata 360 gets compatible with an RC Pro 2 controller I think one might be finding it’s way to me. Then I’ll save for the goggles etc. Exciting stuff.

Also I presume that means I could use the higher capacity batteries in my mini 5 pro without needing to worry about going over 250g?

Yup that is also true - however not overly sure how the class marks work there as the label says one thing but having the + battery would mean it is a C1 drone - there is a full topic on this one already though

so we will keep to the Air 4 rumour topic here

It would have to have a sticker on it saying it’s UK1. If you buy a standard Mini 5 Pro thats marked as UK0 you can’t legally fit the heavier batteries even though they would fit.

I’ve just bought a Mini 5 Pro Plus, which has the long range batteries as standard and is marked UK1, so its no longer a sub 250g drone and comes into the UK1 category, meaning it can fly under the same rules as a UK0 marked Mini 5 Pro, but for longer!

But to keep on topic, personally I’m looking forward to the Air 4. I almost got an Air 3S but I couldn’t find a retailer that could guarantee that it would come marked UK1 so got the Mini 5 Pro Plus instead. But an Air 4 would deffinetly come with the UK1 marking as it would be a “new” design.

Care to share ?

It’s not a weight thing anymore

It’s all about the stickers that you have, defining the classification of the drone and the category of flight.

With no (UK) class markings , whatever you have now is gonna be a field far far away toy in 2028 (maybe)

(Sorry Barry, but I learned the hard way watching all the absolute garbage churned out about the Avata 360 in the run up to its release)

As for the link to the video click this at your peril

Sorry (again) Barry…but afraid that channel is a 100% human-free production.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the drone in Ian’s sofa…

Secret Air 4 Test Pilot? :open_mouth:

Seriously could this be an Air 4? I would have thought something thats not yet released or even announced would be under some sort of NDA.
