This is just some footage I found lurking about on the Hdd from Autumn.
It’s just a fly round of UpHolland duck pond.
The moon was still out, the sun was rising, blue sky and lovely Aurumn colours on the trees, whats not to like about a morning like that.
I’ve been watching you Avata videos, look great.
I’ve been toying with picking one of these up in the spring, so you suffer from lots of signal drop outs what’s sort of range are you getting.
Cheers
Tbh the range for me with the Avata doesn’t really matter, its more important to have the signal strength.
Out of the box in August last year, the range (CE mode) and signal strength was terrible. Once I applied the Ham hack (into FCC mode) to the goggles it opened up whole new world! The signal strength was way better.
Take into consideration that was on the first firmware, so the situation may have changed signal wise with later firmware updates, I’m sure I read DJI had addressed it, but maybe someone else on here can confirm that.
Range wise, 500m maybe further, that’s just how long my test field is and that’s behind a couple of buildings and trees, so yeh it’s good. Like I said above though, the signal strength is really good for going behind objects, no drop outs👍
Pick one up mate, they are sooooo much fun😁. Also, add into your budget for at least another couple of batteries👍
Thanks for the info, yes not concerned about range more so about signal strength, drop outs behind objects etc
Drone safe has a good offer on at the moment which may bring my plan forward
Although trying to resist
Great footage that mate sooooo clear, looks great when flying low to the ground
I also installed the FCC hack but beyond 1000 feet the transmission to the goggles can break-up if the Avata goes behind for example rows of trees/bushes but the signal to the controller remains strong. Without obstructions both have strong signals at 3500 feet - if challenged I will insist the last 0 is a typo I have not tried beyond that
The speed terrifies me!
Cracking bit of flying though, I have to agree.
Paul.
Wow Ady you must really know that park well, at one point I thought you were going to fly through the opening in the bin, amazing video there were one or two points that made me gasp at how close you appeared to get to some objects. Well done.
SUPER FLYING.
That’s wicked, love it
Haha, I was going to do and at the last split second thought better of it😂
Thanks👍
The park is literally just over the road from me. Its a nice little fishing pond to chill at with the dogs…that is if no one is flying silly drones🤣.
That said I’d been waiting to fly there for a while, but there was always someone there, I don’t want to spoil anyone else’s chill time
I’ve found the signal strength brilliant. Some of the subway vids, obviously solid concrete, what I did gave me real confidence in it, the way I could fly through, over and round them, even at 300 m or so👍
Great bit of flying! Totally immersive. Were you using the motion controller? Thought I saw some panicky eyes on those ducks LOL.
Thanks. Yep, motion controller👍.
Love that controller. So intuitive and confidence inspiring. I was using it with the Dji FPV and it was just as precise even from 2km away.
Yeh mate it’s great. Can be bloody accurate when you need it to be. A lot of people don’t like it, may be because they haven’t given it a good go.
The last 2 weekends I’ve been flying indoors using it to film my mates drift cars on the track, and it’s been phenomenal
Also love the headtracking ability of the Avata, which is sadly missing in the FPV. I can imagine that would come in handy when shooting drifting cars.
Yeh, it came in quite handy. The only thing being is the drone was quite sketchy flying in that environment indoors so I didn’t quite have confidence in it to use it all the time.
Outdoors it’s fine, a bit vomit inducing at first, but you get used to it👍
I’m surprised you did all that standing up. Respect! I would have fallen over long before the end.
