When I bought my mini 2 (my first go at droning) I also bought the DJI Refresh 1-year plan.
Now I’ve crashed my drone and broken one of the arms. To be accurate, it’s cracked beside the motor.
I went online to the DJI Care Refresh site and can only see a system by which I pay another £45 plus whatever it costs to send my drone to them; and they will send me a new one.
That seems a bit OTT - this just needs a new arm fitting at most.
My questions - do they not have repair centres? And - is this a case for Gorilla Glue and keep the £45 to put towards a better drone one day (when I’ve stopped crashing them)?
Advice appreciated…
Have had two drones ‘repaired’ on Refresh and for both of them I paid the fee (£45 sounds about right) and they just sent me back a new (refurbished) one. Quicker turnaround for them to do that and I dare say my repaired ones then went in the pile to be sent to the next person waiting for a repair.
That £45 included the postage though. They give you a printable/scannable courier code to ship it to them.
check my tube vid.Which shows you how to repair and strip down drone.
You will have to unsolder wires when putting on new leg.
Drone parts for parts
Look at the other way.
If you repair with Gorilla Glue (other glues are available … ), the resell value is zero.
If you pay £45 and get a pristine replacement (new/refurbished), you have something you can sell for a couple of hundred £.
I don’t see that there’s a reason not to go down the £45 route.
Thanks for that Joe…I think I just didn’t read through the detail properly in the excitement of a new drone!
Your reply makes sense of the system though - thanks again
Thanks for this - really helpful.
It’s the XS really. Does sound a lot but they’ll repair a run over crashed to bits for same price. Insurance is like that. Fortunately never had to use care but they did just fully replace an FPV battery that stopped charging after 11 months.
All their repairs are done this way. When I had a screw break off in a motor on my used Mini 3 Pro, I sent it in and they sent back a BNIB sealed unit. For £66. Totally worth doing as the used one I sent in was a bit dogeared.
I’ve also sent in an FPV and while it wasn’t a BNIB sealed replacement, it was unmarked and registered as me being the first owner.
