A thread to discuss the impending release of the DJI Flip
De ja vu
I guess this is the Tello replacement?
It could be a sort of merging of the Tello/Neo concept with the Mavic Mini series, which sounds like a logical step for DJI to take. Mini 4K capability with enclosed props but an almost identical bodyshell, possibly retailing at around the same price as the 4K, but with some Neo features such as follow me and FPV connectivity with goggles, weight about 230grams.
Tello didnāt have GPS, but I canāt imagine DJI releasing any drone without this now, especially as the cheapest ābare droneā version of the Neo has it.
There are no indications that it will support FPV nor an idea of weight
Just suggesting things Iād like to see in a new drone, I suppose! Iām not all that interested in FPV actually, but would like follow me. DJI have proved that this is possible in a smaller-than-mini sized drone with the Neo. But Iāve sort of conditioned myself to think of drones with enclosed props as FPV orientated, or at least sort of ācrossoverā types,
It looks like the Mini 4k with the Avata AXIS kit on it Giz a go on that
But that donāt have Lidar
No obstacle avoidance either, but people still bought them
Not saying am old ,but Iāve rode one them lolās
The āflipā being over the handlbarsā¦
If the bicycle wheel rims are holding the outer ends of the props in some sort of rail or guide groove, that will increase the stiffness of the props, a significant improvement in their performance and longevity. Also, the front bicycle wheel prop guards are providing some useful protection to the camera and the gimbal. Looking good!
Iām a bit worried about the bicycle wheelsā attachment to the main bodyshell, though. It looks a bit flimsy and will have to cope with a significant degree of stress, especially as I think these are the points at which the hinges are placed for the folding action. That said, I canāt clearly see it in the phots, and could well be wrong!
