DJI FPV - drone crash cost

,

Hi All,

New to droning. Loving it so far. Got lucky with a second hand DJI FPV with 3 batteries for £675 but now Im worried about when I crash it. It’s so fast and also I want to try to fly FPV so it’s not a case of if rather than when. I have already had a little tap of the ground.

Anyway does anyone know the general cost to fix a broken arm or several?
Any recommended company?
Also is it worth getting DJI care for a drone thats already activated or should I just look for a replacement on Ebay if it gets seriously damaged?

Any help is appreciated. Its a great drone and fun but it isn’t cheap so would be great to have some options for when I crash it.

Cheers,

Colin

Hi Colin, welcome to GADC :+1:

A lot of folk use Replace Base for their spares, plus being a GADC member, you get a discount.

Regarding DJI Care Refresh, in my opinion, most definitely. I have used it twice now, without it, I would have been over £800 out of pocket.

Thing with the FPV is the cost £189 for the policy and £249 for the replacement

New can be had for £659 or less if you shop around

(I passed on it and have ‘saved’ 249 sobs ;o)

Welcome! I feel your anxiety, was out with mine yesterday looping wide tree gaps but had a close call and its terrifying knowing that these things dont do well in crashes. I think in general repair costs are higher and more difficult than standard fpv drones. Keeping mine for cinematic fpv and buying a standard quad too. Best of luck!

Hmm, that’s cheeky of DJI. In that case, I retract my statement. Ebay seems like the more appealing route …

If you were buying the FPV new then Heliguy is a no brainer its what @speatuk did

£159 for their own care refresh with no excess, and free replacement

Can you buy this for a second hand DJI FPV that you haven’t bought from them? It’s on perfect condition but as I said I will crash it.

If so, that’s amazing and with no excess!!! No brainer

Saves me buying a replacement on ebay and waiting haha

Just read the small print needs to be bought from them which makes sense. Dam sounded like a good deal

Cheers Richard, I’ll probably do the same, take it easy with this one and get a quad for trying FPV. Although having a panic button that stabilises it while I’ll practice FPV sounds great. I must have hit the ground every 20 seconds in the simulator. haha

Yep that’s what I did.
The Heliguy replacement is only for new drones purchased from them.

We recommend Drone Doctor:

A discount is also available with them too, when you become a Full Member here.

And @Col101mc you share the same avatar as @speatuk which means I’m going to have to pay closer attention now

I bought a used (less than 3hrs) mint condition Drone with controller for £300 of ebay as a backup. I like to fiddle so when one’s on the bench I can still fly. The seller usually has a couple listed but at the moment he just has a couple of spares and repair FPV Drones.

I can’t share the page from my phone, bloody ebay APP, but the sellers name is comm-2648.
