DJI FPV flight sims

After about twelve years of flying drones I have finally got around to having a go at FPV. I’ve just bought an Avata 2 and I want to practice on a sim. The DJI won’t support the Goggles 3 so Im looking for recomendations for a sim to use wth the Avata. Thanks for any info or tips.

hi had a quick look, only thing i can think is have a look on steam on the pc, and see what software or sims there is, and see if anyone mentions the goggles 3, i had a look at uncrashed but not sure what i am looking for to help you, since i have never used it did find this article might help The Best FPV Drone Simulators Round-up - Oscar Liang

Do you mean the DJI sim?

I think I’m right in saying that most of us that fly FPV do not use the goggles with sims, just the computer screen. Having said that, many goggles (but not, it seems, the DJI Goggles 3) have “HDMI in” which can easily be used as a computer display.

Do you mean one that simulates the Avata?

I don’t actually know of one, but I stand to be corrected.

The main thing about using a sim at the beginning is being able to practice “Acro” (aka “Air”, aka “Full Manual”) mode flying without the risk of constantly trashing your gear. For this, almost any sim will do but the most important accessory you will need is a controller to use with it. It is possible to use a regular gaming controller (e.g. X-Box style) but the throttle will not be the same when you switch to real life. Again, you would need to check whatever controller you have will do this.

Finally, Paul has already linked you to one of the best sources for any FPV info (Oscar Liang) and from a quick glance, he looks to have all the bases covered. The other guru is Joshua Bardwell on YouTube and I’m pretty sure he has a video about simulators, although I’m not sure how up-to-date it will be.

Edit: Here you go. A couple of years old now.

He also has one on learning FPV.

LiftOff, as Brendan has suggested, is one of the most popular. For Avata-style flying, Tryp is very scenic and has great graphics if your PC can handle it, yet it’s still a full-on freestyle simulator.

Welcome to the FPV rabbit hole. :rabbit2:

Thanks for all the info guys. I think I’ll give Lift Off a try and see how I go.

Are you going proper manual or using the love toy controller ?

You use to be able to use the DJI app on your phone as a sim with the goggles and I think only the motion controller so not a true FPV sim.

I have not come across any PC/ Mac based sim that will support the current line up of DJI Goggles as I was keen to do that too.

Steam platform have a few free / kinda basic sims that you can use to test your controller on ( FPV controller that is though a lot of them will support PS3/Xbox controllers too but you wont learn much using them )

I use LiftOff and like the fact that you can download drones that closely mimic that one you have in the real world - so weight / power and flight is very similar to how the real one should fly and its all community based too. It helps to develop the muscle memory really but you do need to keep at it. I not been on the sim in a few months and its sort of like starting again but it does start to come back quickly.

Don’t know yet. Iv’e never flown an FPV drone so need to start slow and practice. Iv’e got the Motion Controller and the proper controller so need to try both.

The MC is really simple to use, so you won’t need a Sim for that, find a large empty field, and send it.

The FPV RC is similar to all DJI controllers, until you switch it to manual, however you can still leave the stabiliser turned on, to stop you from flipping in the drone. But if you want to go full manual (no stabiliser) practice on a SIM.
