DJI FPV Race/Freestyle quad

It would seem that the recent speculation of a new DJI release have been confirmed as DJI have submitted there soon to be released FPV drone, along with Version2 of their FPV goggles and a new controller, to the US FCC for certification.

There’s no definitive pricing but many have guesstimated somewhere between $1000 to $1500. For the kit.

The battery has been spec’d as a 2200mAh 6cell.

As everything is proprietary I don’t think it’s aimed at the traditional FPV pilot but more for prosumers working in video production who want something that can create more dynamic video that the current crop of cameraships are incapable of doing.

I’m sure it will have various flying aids built in but will also require a certain degree of skill from the pilot.

Nidge.

Nice!

However how does this cope with VLOS if you are not actually looking at the drone?

What is the difference between this and looking at your phone and not seeing that the drone is no longer visible.

Hope this is not a stupid question :joy:

It’s not a stupid question, Ian.

DJI’s “intended market” is probably those involved professionally in video production, so while on set you would have a pilot under the goggles and an assistant keeping a watchful eye

If a hobbyist we mainly fly in groups so while someone is in the air his pals are keeping an ever vigilant eye on his drone

I can smell the NFZ restrictions from here :grimacing:

Are you after one of these Dave?

Wonder what the price point will be, given the goggles on their own are £500+

Nope - saw the images and nobody had posted them here so just keeping others up to date.

One or two YT influencers, who maybe, or may not be, in possession of review samples, have hinted at around $1200 to $1500.

Now if it contains the type of technology that has been speculated it’s probably in line with other similarly priced drones in DJI’s product range. But I do think it’s misleading to intimate that it’s a FPV drone in ways that most people equate an FPV drone to be. And in misleading in that many may think that because it’s a DJI it will allow them to pull off the same moves as that the celebrity FPV pilots do without financial consequences.

It maybe DJI’s intention to market this at professional film pilots so it will be interesting to see how it stacks up in the hands of those already in the industry, such as NurkTV and Ummagawd (whom may or may not already be in possession) and compare it to the specialised rigs these guys are already flying.

I knew I had something similar kicking about. :grinning::grinning::grinning:

I wonder if Walkera will claim DJI copied them, the same way that DJI claimed Walkera had stolen the Inspire design when they released the Venture.
