DJI Mavic Mini (Fly As You Are)

That’s the worry, all they have to do is make it compulsory to have it plugged in first time, so they update and throw all their spyware shit on it.

Interesting times ahead.

But nobody wishing to use seriously would entertain the idea. It just would kill sales.

I’d wager that the majority on here are upto date with app and firmware

That is a totally different discussion and irrelevant to whether they might introduce it.

In response to hitting sales I think it’s a relevant discussion.

I’ve not updated (like you) in forever, similar reasons too I believe.

But it would now seem they have introduced locking the aircraft if you don’t have most recent firmware as @PingSpike post

DJI would be hit for massive compensation claims by production companies that had headed off to remote places only to discover they were unable to film.
It would never happen.

Good Job Rich had mobile signal then ;o)

No signal would have meant it was unaware of the update, and he would have been able to fly.
Hence why he said it would have been ok in airplane mode.

Put it down to a schoolboy error then ;o)

Is that a new thing,Aircraft locked? Dont have that come up on the MP 2 PRO it will still fly, even if there is a firmware update…

I believe so Tony mate.

I’ve not done a firmware update (from DJI ) for years but back then I’m sure it just presented itself as a reminder.

This one was full on locked, red taillight, the works

Did you try turn it off then on again Rich to see if the message stuck or just take the upgrade on the chin?

I was going to ask the same.

Restarting it with the phone in aeroplane mode.

Imagine being out on holiday somewhere and that happened when you got to the place you wanted to fly. No wifi or data till you get back to the hotel :flushed:

I did indeed power the drone and the controller down, disconnected USB (:man_shrugging:), force-quit the app, switched to airplane mode, reconnected and fired up - trying to convince myself that it hadn’t seen the update.

Stuck fast

I noticed too that the firmware update included a flysafe database update too - which it was nagging me about since the day I got it but always let me fly without updating the NFZs.

So yes, mental note, I need to get in to the habit of switching my phone to airplane mode before using the mini. Which I should anyway, don’t want some knob ringing me in the middle of a flight.

Hi All
Ive been a bit quiet recently…but the MM got me up for it again…love the idea of something small for the camper van and mountain bike. Picked one of the few FMC from Leicester Drones today.
Wow, it is light and sexy…
Thanks for the helpful thread here.
Just to add my “tip”…
If you are getting Refresh, be aware that there are a lot of reports (on DJI forum) of Aircraft SN on the App being different to the SN on the box and on the drone. Use the number on the box and aircraft for Refresh reg.
Apparently the “aircraft SN” on the App is actually the Remote SN etc etc…Expect an update
Already fitted the PGYTech extenders, same colour as aircraft, very funky.
Zoom zoom;)

PS I know the extenders will take it over 250g, thats OK.
I think the main advantage of the weight is not so much for this country but that we will not have to register in another country when we are travelling, or have I missed something?

Yeah, confirmed on mine too, both very different.

So this may well be the case for now on including the all the mavics… one way for DJI to make us do firmware updates and force the id broadcast thingy,as at the moment it can be turned off in the DIJI APP…
the more i hear the more i think my MP2 may be my last DJI drone…:thinking:

Still waiting for my mini. At last It’s arrived in Newcastle this morning , so will get it on Monday now I guess. Never ever will I buy directly from dji.
