Video ?

Airdata ?

Ok, there might have been this tree, ok, and I may have been flying backwards and not looking closely enough where I wasn’t going, things may have happened, and here we are, mea culpa.

It’s the tree’s fault of course. Trees are dicks. So are seagulls…

I’ve just finished replacing the props on the Mavic Mini, all new (3rd party not DJI, who were out of stock) and all new screwbolts. These were a bit stiff going in, which I found reassuring.

Coming up on 23.00 at The Johnster’s bijou pad located on the mean inner-city streets of Cardiff, and it’s time for some daft newbie questions again. I noticed that there seem to be two sets of tapped holes in the outer shell of the motors to attach props to; I replaced mine in hte inner set which is where the old ones came out of. What happens if you use the outer set? Can you use the outer set. What happens if you use a combination of them? Does your chewing gum lose it’s flavour on the bedpost overnight? What are occasional tables the rest of the time?

The new props were a distinctly different shape to the old ones, not radically but noticeably. The tips are shaped with anupwards twist a little over the final half-inch, to not much more than a 32nd of an inch in total, but matching exactly on all the new props, possibly to reduce or control vortices. Is this a feature that has worn out of the old props (which were DJI) or a different specification, or a fault with the new props?

Anyway, going flying tomoz. Haven’t decided where yet, but I need to fly and the forecast’s not too bad!

Post a picture of them so we can see  old and new

Too late, chucked the old ones so they can’t cause me confusion and get re-used. I might be able to dig out the Airdata for the Mini 2/tree incident, though…

You can’t as they aren’t tapped, go to spec savers :eyeglasses:

I tried to go to Specsavers, couldn’t see where they were…

Question answered, thanks!

It won’t be anything adventurous, or risky!

So what happened :man_shrugging:

Nothing happened, I didn’t go. Had to stay in to take the key to the flat over the hallway off the landlord so that I can store stuff (including the Model Railway) from the bedroom in it and sleep in it while the sinking bedroom floor in my own flat is repaired (there is now a 3 inch gap between the skirting boards and the floorboards and you can feel where the slope starts). He says he wants to start work around the end of the month and have it finished by xmas.

Wind looks a bit marginal for a Mavic Mini today & Friday, so knowing my luck I’m not chancing it. Saturday looks ok for practice flying and testflying the new props & leds, Sunday looks to be ok for a bit of filming but I’ll need to keep an eye on the dew point. Will try to sort out the Mini 2 repair later today if I can, the extra few mph wind resistance will be needed plus of course the better connectivity means more confident flying, while the zoom camera means more adaptable filiming.

I just come here to read The Johnster’s prose!

your talent is wasted mate… you should do stand up.

You do know there is an “ignore” button, don’t you?

I’ve used it, a lot, over the last couple years
