Hi there! Before you post, have you selected the most appropriate category for your new topic?
Hi
I have been flying a DJI mini 2 since last April. The footage and manoeuvrability is very good. However, I have noticed that the range on the battery has dropped significantly. I can only fly a round trip of about 2 miles before the battery is critically low forcing the drone to land. Is this to be expected?
Hi @JRS1903, it looks as though you’re quite new here
Why not nip over to the Introductions page, and say hello properly and tell us a bit about yourself.
I would measure the battery capacity 1st by its flight time not distance
You can also use Airdata to see the battery count and life
Thanks for your reply. I shall try flight time. Cheers.
Got to agree.
We don’t know if you’re flying that two mile distance at 4mph or 44mph
When I had my Mini 2, I once flew a 3 mile round trip at around 15mph in normal mode and landed with around 23% power left. However have you ever factored in the wind direction as well? Naturally if you’re going against it the drone is going to suck up more juice.
I was flying in normal mode, not sure of the speed, and the wind was light. However, I was filming for about 2 minutes. Perhaps that’s what used the excess juice.
Recording video will use 0.00000001% of your battery
(ish)
Also remember that temperatures are dropping and can have a significant effect on battery performance
Yeah, that too. Thanks.
