DJI mini 3 crash. Under warranty but no Care refresh

Hi All,
I had my first crash with DJI mini 3 and one arm has broken where it connects to the body. Sideways crash into a rock, but only about 6 ft off the ground so no other damage immediately apparent. It is still under warranty, but with no Care refresh. So, I am wondering whether to send it back to DJI in the Netherlands (but wondering if anyone has experience with likely repair cost for a similar issue), or whether having it repaired in the UK with one of the drone repair places may invalidate the rest of the warranty.

If you get it repaired in the uk, send it to drone doctor Brighton ……

Amazing service, you won’t be disappointed :+1:t2:

Ask DJI for a quote

I have a quote from Drone Doctor its just a question of whether them repairing it would invalidate the rest of the warranty which they couldn’t answer.

Unfortunately DJI will not give an a quote until they have assessed the drone in the Netherlands!

Ah ok, yes sorry I can’t answer that but I’m sure drone doctor are uk’s authrorised DJI repair centre,

My drone had an unfortunate incident with the greenhouse a couple of weeks after I bought it, resulting in trauma to the gimbal unit. I’d not signed up yet for DJI Care having missed the memo about the time window and was literally on the way out to shoot the verification video they ask for if you’re late registering. Grr. Anyway, I ended up sending it to Drone Doctor who fixed it all up nicely and got me flying again. It never crossed my mind that the warranty would be invalidated because they are a DJI authorised repair company as mentioned. I was a bit cross about having to pay out of pocket though, but serves me right really. They were a bit slow, took two weeks vs a claimed 3-5 days but they did a good job and I’m happy.

Never been more than 72 hours for me, although I know they can be busy,
Never known it to be that long but I’d rather wait & get a good job done as you said :+1:t2:

DJI keep asking me to sign up for DJI FPV even after nearly a year. Their customer support seems to keep pushing it despite the few days after activation claim at the start. Obviously you’d need to get it and have good flights before a bad one I guess

Another option for repair is Buzzflyer in Sudbury, Suffolk. (Contact Us | BuzzFlyer UK)
Although they don’t widely advertise repairs, it may be worth giving them a ring. They repaired my Mavic Pro back in April '21 (rear leg) for £78 and within a week.

I’d counter that with first hand experience of Buzzflyer being absolutely terrible with their communications and updates

You can take out refresh at a later date if you can submit a flight video showing there’s no existing problems which they check in the flight logs.

As I always said no (as the FPV in silly price) I guess I never had to prove it was ok. Did do video to DJI for battery dead.

Do have care refresh on mini 2 though

Thank you. I had seen the cost of the part, but how much is the diagnosis fee, labour charge and courier to and from UK. In other words, total repair cost. I dont want the expense of sending to Netherlands just to find out the repair cost.

Sorry to hear that. It was not my experience. When did you deal with them was it before or after my date?

It was just last month
