Welcome to the interent Rod, we are pretty relaxed round here will take a lot more than that ;o)
Thank you @milkmanchris sadly someone didnât like one of my posts. It was a problem that arose because my thread was merged with a much older thread.
We get asked hundred la of question. Most asked before with a wealth of answers so we move quite a few to existing threads
Youâll get a notification to tell you.
The search in here is brilliant, and this way we keep conversation going
Donât sweat it Rod I can be a bit blunt and too quick off the mark sometimes, I also have a really bad habit of reading into things when I shouldnât. BUT, donât delete your posts because someone doesnât like them, we all have a voice and opinion and you are free to share yours just as much as anyone else.
I am after some advice from fellow pilots with what filters would be best for my Mini 3 pro. I live in the south west so normally the drone is out over the sea, rivers etc.
Currently stuck between these 2:
Or
From my understanding the 16 pack that includes CPL filters would be better as they remove unwanted reflections but are they really worth 3x the price?
Open to other suggestions as well.
@mattmill weâve moved your post to an existing thread on this subject which also includes other recommendations as requested.
Hi @mattmill, it looks as though youâre quite new here
Why not nip over to the Introductions page, and say hello properly and tell us a bit about yourself.
I donât know anyone that owns 16 different ND filters for a single model drone, much less uses them
Would you be better off just buying the individual ones that you actually need?
You will get a lot of different responses to your question. It all depends on if youâre planning on video or photo, or maybe both. When I started photography I bought every filter known to man and I used them all!!! Over time I found most of them useles and tacky.
On the drone the most useful will be the ND from 16 to 256, all can be used to give you the correct frame rate for video, or slowing movement of water to get that smokey look. Polarisers are less useful. On such a wide lense you will most likely get banding as the polarising effect wonât cover the whole field of view. Personally Iâd look for a set of ND filters first and forget the rest. Youâll use them at first, but as time passes by youâll find them getting used less and less. I canât remember the last time I used the cpl on my drones. A good addition is a uv filter, use it to protect the glass on the camera and keep it on all the time, unless youâre using one of the ND filters of course. Id rather scratch a cheap filter than an expensive to replace lense!
Thanks for the detailed response! Was also looking at a UV filter so will probably pick one of them up to.
