DJi Mini 4 pro No sign of life

Hello all, I bought a Mini 4 Pro about 3 weeks ago. I took it out of the box this morning, for its first effort, having charged all the batteries and the charger, went to a location near me, pressed the button on the tail, where the little lights are, then pressed and held again for 2 secs, as recommended by Dji, and…nothing. No sign of life at all. It would not power on. I tried all 3 batteries that come with it and got the same result. Am I missing something or have I bought a duff unit? Thankfully I had my trusty Anafi, so managed a flight anyway, but this does not bode well for a brand new unit. Any advice would be appreciated!

It’s one press, release and one long press till all the lights come on

Post a video to YT of what you are doing and share the link here

Sounds like he pressed it twice. Not sure if it was paired either before he took it out but that wouldn’t stop the drone turning on. Maybe left too long between short and longer press.

Thanks for that. I’ve looked at this before and since and have done it exactly as described but whilst he says all the lights should stay on, after the lights initially come on at the first short press, mine all go off during the long press and there is no further activity from the unit. All 3 batteries are brand new and fully charged.

Press and hold … 1 sec or so.
Release briefly!
Press and hold again.

Exactly this. Took me a good few attempts to get the right rhythm.

Thank you guys. I’ve found the right time spacing now and it has fired up. Honestly what a pullava!

Been doing it for almost 12 years. Seems natural. :man_shrugging:

LOL

When starting up the RC2, in the menu it asks for the WiFi and password. When I was out this morning it offered 1 option, a Samsung something or other. I don’t have a Samsung anything. What do I use when out in the field?

If you need internet connection when out, you can probably set up a WiFi hotspot on your phone?

If you’ve setup your DJI account in the Fly App of your RC2 and paired with the drone, you don’t need a WiFi signal to fly unless you are required to clear a DJI Geolock (unusual now in the UK), or if you’re trying to use the map function and it doesn’t have the area in memory.

Both can be done though using a smartphone as a hotspot for the RC. :hugs:

Thats really helpful, many thanks. There is clearly a lot to learn!

I’ve got 4 assorted DJI drones, but I have to say the DJI mini 4 pro seems slightly harder to power up. It might be to do with the smart transfer function to a mobile phone that needed a change in the timing?

No worries mate, and your in the right place here to do just that. :hugs:

I know this has been solved… However My feedback/experience is that the Mini 4 Pro is an exception to all the other DJI drones I’ve had…
Mavic Pro 1, Air 2S, Air 3, Mini 2 & 3 Pro all allowed a fairly rapid double press, with little break between each press…

The Mini 4 Pro has a definate extra space between presses… Caught me out as well…

Thanks very much for the postscript. It is really helpful to know I’m not the only one!

Thank you very much for that. I was faffing around with it for ages, thinking I MUST be doing something wrong!
