Interested in the thoughts of members on the fitting of Remote ID module to my mini 4 Pro. It’s about 2 years old so doesn’t have an integral ID function.
Wondering if the CAA regs in 2028 will require one to be fitted
In all likelihood, fitting anything extra to your Mini 4 Pro will make it heavier than the MTOM 250gm limit
Your Mini 4 Pro will require Remote ID from 01 Jan 2028 but you can continue to fly it till then. As that date approaches DJI/CAA may (or may not) make adjustments to either drone firmware and/or regulations to accommodate the requirements
Rather than spend dosh to fit something that might satisfy one rule just to contravene another maybe unnecessary. Perhaps just continue to fly till nearer that date and see what transpires. It may or may not become a problem then ![]()

Excellent advice here ![]()
I messaged DJI about the Mini 4 Pro when it was first announced that remote ID was being introduced; their response was to the effect that they are on with it, and a solution would be forthcoming. I took that to mean a firmware update to enable it, though the odd cynic on here will probably say they meant buy a newer model ![]()
(Should be noted that the cynics are often wrong, too
)
Easy fix for them , it broadcasts anyway with a plus battery iirc
Ha! Yes indeed. Although I only bought my Mini 4 Pro last year, I decided I’d rather have a drone that is fully compliant with the new rules under a UK Class mark. So, purchased a Mini 5 Pro ‘Plus’ (with the ‘Inteligent Plus’ batteries) which since 17 June DJI supply with UK1 Class mark. Which means…
- I’m no longer using a drone sitting right on the margins of MTOM
- Remote ID is enabled, entered and broadcasting
- Fitted strobes (or in DJI language, ‘Status Lights’) no longer switch off when recording video
- Max Altitude (Actually height AGL) can be set up to 500m provided you acknowledge the built in disclaimer; to cater for the occasional situation where you want to legitimately record a specific object that may be taller than 120m AGL

It’s already fitted, my Mini 3 pro also has RID but at the moment it’s geo locked
If you take the drone to the EU it will transmit RID data
