I fly rc model aircraft at Leatherhead. I’m often asked to use my mini 4 pro to search for crashed gliders/planes/missing canopies etc. My apologies if this ‘waypoint’ question is answered elsewhere but here we go…Can I preset a waypoint mission to fly at say 25m height over a 100mx100m ‘square’ using fly forward/turn 180 right/fly back/turn 180 left/fly forwards (zig zag) at say 5m paths distance) to cover the area thoroughly but where the starting point (a corner of the square) will be a different location each time?

@Andy401C Yes Andy, you can do it all from the comfort of your armchair on your RC. Ultimately, you can set speed, angle of gimbal, POIs, height, distance, photo takes, video on/off, Zoom requirements if req, start/end points, loss of signal to RTH or complete mission. So pretty much everything! Save it and go fly it as many times as you like. You can also modify your mission by moving waypoints, POIs, direction of travel etc etc if you haven’t quite got it right.

Recalibrate your compass before you send it out mine went slightly off course and I found this helped after sending her back out

Understood and many thanks for the reply. I’ve set a search up which I’ll fly later today…but let’s suppose I want to run the same pattern…but 1/2 mile from the first…is there a way to accomplish that without inputting 25 different waypoints again? cheers

@Andy401C You can do a ‘saveas’ Andy and move the points up that you’ve already set but you’ll have to do one at a time. The parameters would be the same ie speed height etc and you would have to move the POI to match the new area. I’ve never done it so this is just me thinking what I’d do.
I’m trying to think if the yellow line comes up so you can watch it follow the path in AI like the return to home does in green?
I remember you can switch views between Google maps on screen

Yes you can follow it on the waypoint screen as it does it, but I prefer to watch the main screen and have the little map. My finger is always hovering over the pause icon, the 1st time I try a mission but once its proven, I just hit start and watch it in the air.
I’m going to see if you can do something similar on the Mini2 with the smart controller for shits n giggle
No you cant do it with the mini 2, it doesn’t have waypoint facility.
Litchi would work on the Mini 2.

Never used Litchi, didn’t it only work with iOS?

Gone a bit off piste here - anyways, did the waypoints mission and discovered that speed at 1m/s at 4m height and a touch of zoom with gimbal straight down seems the best option to find stuff👍

Could you not get them to stick an AirTag on the plane and track it that way. You wouldn’t need an AirTag for each plane just swap it over to between flights. By the way I live close by to the Model flying site in Fetcham.
