DJI Mini 4K - New Regulations

Hi,

I am very new to drone flying and trying to determine what I need to know to comply with the new regulations.

Q1. My Mini 4K has a symbol on the underside that resembles the UK0 class mark, but without the UK. I believe this indicates it falls in the UK0 class (under 250g with a camera). Is this correct?
Q2. Do I need to look at RID and have an MTOM of 246g? No wiggle room there.
I’d appreciate any guidance that can be offered.

Thanks,

Ian

That’ll be an EU class mark, there are no UK class marked drones on the market yet

The only thing you need to look at is Good 2 Go, it’ll answer all your questions for you

@PingSpike, I have been through the Good 2 Go and have the result below:

You can fly because:

  • You can fly in the Over People (A1) Open sub-category.
  • Your drone is small enough or class-marked appropriately for Over People (A1) (under 250g, or UK0/C0 or UK1/C1 or equivalent).
  • In Over People (A1) you may fly close to and over uninvolved people, provided you never endanger anyone and you never fly over crowds.
  • You do not need an A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) to fly in the Over People (A1) sub-category.
  • You must still follow the Drone and Model Aircraft Code, including the 120m height limit and any airspace restrictions.
  • Your class-marked drone is Remote ID capable and you do not need to fit a separate Remote ID transmitter.
  • Use the Drone Scene map to check for any airspace restrictions in the area before you take off.

If my drone is RID capable, the manufacturer has hidden it well. I have also been told that it is not RID capable. Do you have any suggestions on where to put my RDI details if what I have been told is incorrect?

Thanks,
Ian

There is no requirement for Remote ID in the UK yet which is why you can’t see any options in the DJI Fly app.

Interesting to know that the 4K doesn’t have RID support built in, we’ll get that list updated, thanks for the heads up

@PingSpike, I have done more digging. It seems the Mini 4K had an update to comply with FAA regulations untill a few years ago. No mention was made regarding the UK or CAA changes.

@Iandunc turns out the 2SE / 4K does indeed have Remote ID support built in.

@Sparky found this in the last firmware update:

FYI, the GPS in your drone is telling it that it’s in the UK so you won’t see any of the Remote ID settings yet. If you took it to Ireland or any other EU country then the options make themselves immediately visible.

It’s worth remembering that the requirement to transmit Remote ID doesn’t come in to effect until 2028 if you have an EASA class marked drone.

If your drone has a UK0 class mark then RID is required from next week, on 1st Jan 2026.

We’ll update Good 2 Go to make that messaging clearer.

@Iandunc we’ve rolled out some changes to Good 2 Go today.

The results page now clearly states:

  1. If your drone is Remote ID capable or not

  2. Also now advises you on the date at which your Remote ID will be enabled by DJI
    – based on UK vs EU class mark requirements, as CAA have different dates in place for each

Eg:

  • Your EU class marked drone is Remote ID capable and you do not need to fit a separate Remote ID transmitter. As required by the CAA, your drone will automatically start broadcasting Remote ID from 1st January 2028.

Hope this helps

I own a DJI mini 4K drone and am wondering do these come with Remote ID built in? And if so how do you enable it via DJI fly? Any help or advice would be appreciated

Covered here only yesterday @FatmanSnaps
