Weighing in as an uninvolved bystander here…
The first thing that beggars belief is that DJI think they can (have been allowed to?) get away with this bullshit (as posted by @CheerPhil)
Surely, a maximum take off mass should be exactly that? If your product is 249.9g ±4g then its MTOM should be stated as 253.9g. This absolutely reeks of DJI trying to circumvent the classification requirements. “My drone identifies as a sub-250g…”
I know everyone rolls their eyes when this guy crops up bit this is only a 12 minute video and I think covers all the salient points quite succinctly (for a change). The analogy to speed limits (will you get prosecuted for driving at 72mph?) is quite an interesting viewpoint.
Finally, on the subject of ‘weightgate’ and ‘dieselgate’. ![]()
Personally, I’ll be sticking to not flying my OG Mavic Mini and seeing what shakes out come January. When I’ll probably continue to not fly camera drones. ![]()
If anyone want’s me, I’ll be putting the twenty-odd batteries I charged up for BM25.2 and didn’t use back to storage. Should probably have done that a while ago. ![]()
