DJI Mini 5 Pro Intelligent Flight Battery "Plus" in the UK

First time I used them was looking for a drone and seen HUKD with £150 less then anywhere else and just the traffic going through HUKD would be great alone, unlike this purchase of £85 it was £675 so imagine 1000’s of orders not honoured but money stays in there account until they first decide to cancel then send emails which last one said that it take 3 to 5 days so can take upto 10 days from order which I did try to point out to them that it takes 5 seconds to leave my bank from confirming order but takes them 3 - 5 days :face_with_symbols_on_mouth::face_with_symbols_on_mouth::face_with_symbols_on_mouth::person_bald::face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

It is a shame but as i was driving to the store i kinda expected it to be futile.

Given DJI offer the service to print A2 cofc cards and therefore have the appropriate details i think they are missing a trick not offering plus batteries to those holders at least. They could claim due diligence etc but european regs are european regs..

They already have something almost along the same lines with the option to order class labels via the controller software. Both pilot and now fly offer it.

Watched a video just now from DCRainmaker who talks about the legality of the Mini 5Pro and more about the legislation around it for Europe and it seems that even the manufacture as well as the retailers can be hit with liability around non compliance of the classification - guess this is why there are both the C0 and C1 labels in the box and with all the hoo haa about the weight they may have had words from the EU bodies about the weight and classification that has then made DJI pull the battery due to the extra weight issues around it.

Think this drone will cause DJI some headaches to come due to the C0 label on it - wont be too shocked if it gets reclassified - then the battery size / weight wont be an issue and it should be freely avalible.

I think the extended battery thing is a seperate issue to the weight class of the 5 given its been going on since the 4 at least but yeah. I do agree.

Funtimes ahead for sure

Its a pity my little workshop is packed up or i would look into modifications of the battery myself. Both to reduce weight for the sub 250 class compliance and to make some homegrown extended batteries..

I paid with my PayPal account and the money never left my account, it’s still pending. No cancellation communication from Jessops yet.

On drones purchased prior to 01/01/2026, ‘C’ markings will be valid in UK from 01/01/2026 until 31/12/2027 according to published code yesterday: Class marks | UK Civil Aviation Authority

Hi @bleuzebra, it looks as though you’re quite new here :wave:t2:

Why not nip over to the Introductions page, and say hello properly and tell us a bit about yourself. :+1:t2:

Same here, offering an option to swap to the standard flight battery for £64 or to cancel the order.

Told them to go ahead and cancel straight away as I don’t really need another standard flight battery, but if I did I’d buy it from somewhere else.

I pre ordered one from them and received an email today cancelling it as the plus batteries are not coming to the UK. A bit of nonsense really as adding things like prop guards lights etc will put a 250g drone overweight. You just fly to the weight restrictions. I have an A2 CofC so it should not make a lot of difference adding the weight of the plus battery. I try not to fly near people anyway.

I received an email from Jessops just now saying they won’t be able to supply the batteries and giving me the option to cancel. If I don’t cancel then they will be forced to cancel in 5 business days.

If they can’t supply why do they want me to cancel the order? No money has been taken so I will await them to cancel.

Having spoken at length to @LeicesterDrones this afternoon, it’s been confirmed that no authorised DJI retailers in the UK will be able to get the Plus batteries via their usual and official distribution routes.

Will this change in the future? Given that the Plus battery for both the Mini 3 and the Mini 4 never made it to the UK market, probably not

‘Authorised’ huh

I might reach out to a mate of mine in Hong Kong. He owns me some favours..

It won’t be quick but something might be doable.

Yes, I used to word authorised as we’d know they were legit, rather than cheap fakes.

Agreed.

I tend to like original stuff in general wherever possible but with dji drones i always have the nagging feeling any care claims might be argued if the logs report 3rd party stuff.

DJI drones wont fly with aftermarket batteries
