Not sure if this has been mentioned in all the videos above so I hope it’s ok to post this here,
It just came up on YouTube a possible flaw to do with the antenna connectors on some of the O4 units so I thought id post this here for anyone who may want to know,
@Mads-Tech Ian has a fix
Ah yes ok I thought if anyone would have ‘ he’d ’ be the guy, as said I didn’t go through all the videos above as this isn’t my domain
Ian’s just making a fuss of a minor issue again to get a dig at DJI and get more views
He contradicts the severity of the issue in his live chat and specific videos,
It’s been know for some years that uFL sockets need a bit better soldering just like the USB connectors on flight controllers
The same thing happens on HDZero VTXes…
Would have been nice if the antenna were detachable without opening it up. Something like a MMCX connector would have been great!
Just about to buy an O4 Pro unit, not something I wanted to have to worry about.
ARGH! Not those. They’re horrid… a properly soldered ufl is nicer.
But yes, a way to get the camera and ufls off without removing the top would be nice. But having done it I can honestly say it really wasn’t too bad. The way the screws work was good.
I’m no expert, though I’m sure the MMCX has better shielding with lower loss.
Lots of my software defined radio gear uses them (and some old TV tuners).
I will most certainly live with the eventuality that I may have to resolder/repair a connection .
My experience with the MMCX was it snapping off inside when trying to remove it and then a long job trying to remove the bit that had snapped off from inside the connector on the VTX. Never again.
Whilst I don’t think MMCX are perfect they are my preference over uFL
Got this! also has Richard @Yith
It’s a quality product, I can recommend
Yeah… I actually had mine before my O4 air units arrived.
They’re brilliant. Used so far in my wing and my Piper Cub (still being built)
