Sorry, posted before and then b**gered off… definitely seems to be the device. The option is under ‘security’ in the system settings menu, alongside the device encryption options (which I’ve never noticed before, but probably aren’t new)

I’ve just read its stored on the device and a factory reset will delete it

This means it protects your data and account but not the device
