Dji Refurbished Drones

Has anyone had any dealings with Dji refurbished drones? Looking at buying a refurbished mini 3 to replace my dead GoPro Karma (see earlier post) I can purchase a mini 3 with the basic controller for £269 which seem like a good price.

All my drones have been off the official DJI refurbished site. never had a problem with them. as good as new for a bit cheaper.

Safer then anywhere else for that price, can be 50 50 chance buying online that it’s bound and you fuffed.

Been nice that you could have got it without controller and bought RC from this forum

As @LordEdam said, if you’re buying from the genuine DJI.com refurbished shop you won’t have a problem:

If you’re buying from eBay or anywhere else that claims “refurbished”, I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole. It’ll have been no more refurbished than the tarmac on my street.

Had a couple of refurbished drones from a seller called ITstor on Ebay and they were spot on. They say refurbed but accesories were still in packets so Im guessing some of it is just open box.

What is the bound thing? I have been flying a week, I have a DJI account, and having phoned DJI to ask a question I can see they can see I have flown (and probably see everything about where I have flown too). I don’t recall ever binding my drone to anything - but I guess it has done this by default using the setup process I used to get the Fly app and controller and aircraft all synched up.

I purchased my Mini 3 from Ebay but I am a seasoned seller and the drobe has been perfect and confirmed by DJI that I am the first flyer.

Your drone is bound to your dji account. If you sold the drone wouthout undinding it, the buyer would not be able to bind it to their account. They could still fly it, until one day they get logged out of the account. Then it becomes a paperweight as they wont have the login details. DJI in this case will NOT help, I’ve tried!!! Fortunately I was able to eventually able to track down the original owner and get it sorted.

I saw an blog about this on YouTube. People selling drones on eBay or I suppose it could be any selling site? People are seeing the drone working perfectly when the go to collect it. Then when they get home they can’t register the drone to their account because it’s still registered to the previous owner. When they reach out to the previous owner to unbind the drone they are asked for more money. It’s no good reaching out to the manufacturer to unlock the account. So you either pay the additional monies or you’re left with a paper weight. Be careful if buying second hand drones.

Indeed, this would be more of a risk on Facebook marketplace - the hovel of all selling sites. Ebay at least has the buyer guarantee, so if anything is wrong, you are covered.

Brought my Mini 3 Refurbished off the DJI site 2 weeks ago. Everything was immaculate and I’ve had no issues. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy refurbished in the future.

Just resurfacing this thread… Have anyone else purchased a refurbished DJI drone since 2024, and were you happy with it?

I’m toying with the idea of going down this avenue but nothing is concrete.

Yet to hear a single bad word about anything officially refurb’d by DJI:

Naturally avoid eBay “refurbs” like the plague, they’ll be no more refurbished than my hiking boots are

Yeh id go for that @Kressman id trust dji refurbished drone over any other.

I bought my Mini 4 pro as a DJI Refurbished unit, very happy with it, looks like new to me. Only thing I would say is I bought the Combo and though said it was in stock it still took best part of 4 wks to arrive, unlike new drones that have arrived pretty much next day.

That’s interesting to know.

They don’t ship individual items separately so I believe though the drone was in stock one or more of the other components wasn’t.
