Do you have to use a specific VTOL flight controller or can you use something like a speedybee?

Do you have to use a specific VTOL FC or can you use something like a speedybee??? …

As long as it supports ardupilot or inav and has enough servo and motor outputs you should be fine with any.

Of course remember that servo and motor outputs can be interchangeable… motor outputs will be PWM on a plane ESC anyway.

So you’re going to get the PNP edition, I assume…

Right now I don’t have a spare FC. My planes all work… well the jet is refusing to fly, but I am determined to fix that.

Which FC were you thinking of getting? I might get the PNP + FC version, since I don’t have spare ESCs either.

Iv got a spare 03 which after listening to some of the comments on YT about the 04 im going to stick with. I also have a Speedybee 405 wing and a spare GPS, the batties off my Atomrc wing will work nice also.
Moight need another crossfire though

SpeedyBee F405 Wing looks a solid choice. Says it supports inav/ardupilot and vtol.

What about ESCs?

I’m probably going with O4 in the long run on some of my stuff, hopefully the issues will be sorted out soon enough. Though the VTOL may get a HDZero hand-me-down from a 7" quad. (If I actually get around to doing this… I’ve been looking at the Manta since it came out)

I have a 45amp 1 which came with the Dolphin yah think I’ll wait till they sort the issue before I commit to 04 does look good though

You need 3 ESCs…

I was a bit blown away by the penetration and range shown in Bardwell’s video. No way I’d be considering it otherwise.

Yah penny dropped czn you get a 3 in 1 ESC ??

Will have to look for one on Unmmaned as they are the cheapest for a Manta …

The FC + ESC + GPS version comes with a 3in1 ESC

Looking round on the net I think I’d have to use a 20x20 ESC

Hmm. they might not support PWM… you might not be able to use DSHOT on 3 channels on your FC. Also consider cooling… with a quad they are well cooled, less so in a plane.

The classic way would be to have 3 plane ESCs.

I feel a little research is needed here

Just looking into it by the time iv purchased a ESC and a GPS your probably £10 shy of the RTH version so may as well save yourself the trouble of building one :+1:t3:

If you get at UMT prices, yes.

some people take vtol very seriously :open_mouth:

Iv brought 1 from fimi them selves and got good discount

I’d say… with discount code the PNP+FC comes to £119!
