Hi there. I have a question regarding saving downloaded maps onto my RC 2 controller. Do I need to insert an SD card into my controller in order to save these maps? I know that there is internal storage in the controller, but it seems that the general opinion is to rely on the controller internal storage, without SD card inserted. Which is correct?
Thanks in advance, Mike M.
Check this post out - seems you do need to save them to the SD card in the device
Although have just found this post and it seems to suggest they are saved on the device mmm
When using the DJI RC 2, the offline maps are stored in the internal storage by default and cannot be stored on the microSD card even if it is set as primary storage .
Don’t know much about the RC 2 but found this on Google which as you can see it says cannot be saved to SD unless someone knows different,

Hi there, everyone…and thanks for replying so quickly. As always…different answers to the same question…lol. Some say this, some say that. Hey Ho, it is what it is, I guess. To be honest, when I review my downloaded maps section and go into a downloaded map of the area in question, I found that the map resolution was tiny, compared to the size of the area that should have been downloaded during the map search. Also, the area mentioned can sometimes be way off to the area supposedly being saved! Having done a little research, I have come across others who have encountered this problem.
Thanks again for your time…Cheers.
I have found the same on my controller on the Mini 3 Pro so basically what I did was download loads of over lapped area’s of the common area’s I am going to be flying in.
For new area’s that I have not downloaded I tether to my phone when I power up and then go to the map bit in the go fly screen and do a bit of zoom in / zoom out to cache the map to the device - the controller disconnects from the phone when it takes off and so far this has not been an issue for me.
I have not given it much thought to where it saves this data as I keep a SD card in the controller mainly for a fall back to when I forget to put one back into the drone.
