Just got round to watching that video @Steviegeek well impressed
One more possiblity, ᅯ28.59 for snake camera probing to 10m depth:
Attach a big hook made from suitable wire, and go fishing.
It is only stated to be IP67 (tested to 1m for 30 minutes), but if the thing finds your drone, it would be worth it even it the camera does not survive.
There will be some versions of this type of device that have a greater depth capability, and on some types you can replace the camera probe anyway.
This is a very good Endoscope, I do own one with rigid cable but its fixed focus is only about 30mm.
Iād totally forgotten about the scenario but that mentioned , one of my best mates owns a septic tank emptying , gullyās drains etc company , which we done much work along side Thames water which just jogged my memory , sometimes if there was a blockage and we couldnāt jet it out or it kept backing up , we used like a remote control car with a lead attached to it which had a camera on it for going in the drains / pipes underground very heavy piece of metal it was made out of which I guess it would have to be , a strong like 4 wheel drive , which we monitored on a screen like an old style small tv , technology has probably changed now as this was back in 2010 , but it was for the purpose to see underground and in the water , sometimes the gullyās had caved in or half a house brick from new builds chucked in the drains buy builders etc ,
Just gave me the thought if that would work
Probably long gone now tho
Hi I have used it in a drain and it does work well, the light on the front is adjustable and is waterproof camera is very good quality but its just let down by the short field of view.
Yea
I suppose in the nicest way possible the price reflects on the quality , the thing I mentioned above back then I asked what that bit of kit cost he just replied thousands , whatever or how much he meant by that but is or was great piece of kit ā¦.
Iāve been following this thread carefully as I mainly fly over water . How did your recovery attempts go? Itās been 26(?) days in the water now.
Hi Lds
Yea itās had a good wash !
No jokes aside mate I have not or there has been no rescue attempts , had a few of the members on here with many ideas and another offering to help with the rescue , which is a very kind offer but Iāve sort of put it to the back of my head now but would be nice to find it , I wouldnāt expect help for nothing and would always look of a way to try and re pay in some kind of way , still learning on here so my knowledge in trying to help others is not always the best but we all had to start somewhere I guess ,
It is on the books to go back to the spot ( will fly the replacement drone too ! ) but take a couple of fishing magnets and a hook etc , I donāt expect any luck but itās worth the challenge I guess & a bit of something too do , I might even go and take a look this Wednesday which will be the 28 day anniversary !
Thanks for asking and checking in anything too add I will most definitely keep you in the loop .
Regards rich
This footage you have of your drone going down, i donāt think you have shared this yet
Iāll get it for you it was on YouTube but I took it down one mo
@SparkyFPV there you go mate
Arr if only you had pushed up
I no I thought you knew , I thought I knew
@SparkyFPV i no itās funny serious
No itās not man error
One of the reasons I carry my tree climbing bag in the van. If I lose one of mine in a tree itās a 20 min job to get up in it and grab it (safely). In fact i would recommend anyone flying keeps a cheap climbing harness, rope, prussiks and lanyard/flip line somewhere available. Doesnāt have to be a massive rope or a full Arb rig, just something that makes climbing a tree easier.
Matt, of all the things Iāve seen recommended over the years, this is by far the most unusual
I should add if you think you would be physically capable of climbing a tree and donāt have height issues. If you are the type that will climb up a 20m tree to grab a Ā£500 quad, then that kit will make it a lot less likely that you spend time in hospital from falling out of it, assuming you even survive it. If you arenāt capable of climbing, then donāt. Know your own limits and all that.
I carry mine because itās not just trees. Iāve seen vids of people dropping drones on bando roofs, even someone putting a quad on the roof of Sheffield Museum and then climbing up a rather dodgy ladder to get up there and climbing to the edge of the roof at the front, to retrieve it. Much safer if you can clip on to something while doing it.
Iāve spent a lot of time climbing stuff in the past and am getting too old to be free climbing things. It hurts too much when you fall and break stuff.
It is Simpleā¦we all just need Mattās Number

we all just need Mattās Number

Contrary to belief, Iāve only had to rescue one of my drones from a tree once. And sods law, that was at the Big Meet. But it was the TH2F, and I am shit at FPV.
I keep a 30m nylon rope and weight in the boot of the car, for this very reason. And if that fails, I climb.
If I know where the drone is, 10m up a tree or at the bottom of a lake ⦠Iām getting it.
