Our Drone Safety Kit Bundle has been very popular over the past couple years, we’ve added a couple things to it in that time and were wondering if there’s anything else you would suggest to include in this combo?
So far we’ve got:
Hi vis vest, fire extinguisher, landing pad, first aid kit, fire blanket, pop up cones and a wind anemomter
Is there anything you personally carry that you think we’ve missed, or something we should swap out?
We’ve thought about adding a fireproof battery bag in the past but chose against it, are fire proof battery bags something we should include?
Holy shit!!! All that to fly a drone?
If you could bottle common sense you’d be onto a winner, that’s pretty much all you need for what most of us guys fly.
I have a big box with everything in this kit and more - a compass, a roll of red/white barrier tape, an A4 whiteboard & markers, folding “drone flight in progress” notice boards,
It was first put together for my PfCO flight test… because you failed the test without it.
Does it come out on every flight now? No, it does not. But I do generally have a small first aid kit and fire extinguisher nearby. And the cones, tape and notice boards play an occasional part in risk mitigation on jobs.
I do draw the line at high-vis though - that one hasn’t been worn since the examiner told me I’d passed!
As they say, it’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
I think it depends where you’re flying. Sometimes a hi-Vis and a hard hat can get you places and know-one will bother you. They’re always in the car, though like you guys I haven’t worn them myself yet
Never touched my kit, dragged the box out for my test and the examiner said, “you can put that away, you don’t need it.” He didn’t even look at the contents.
Also hi vis para cord to create a proper, 5 meter? cordon with the traffic cone thingies.
The first aid kit can be tailored with an emphasis on sharp force trauma. A soft bag rather than a hard case could maybe make more sense from a carrying about point of view. Also some form or record keeping ie accident book kinda thing.
Again, looking at it from a GVC point of view, Logs books for RA and observer details, local emergency/ATC details?
Some form of big bag to carry everything maybe?
IPA wipes for lens cleaning and memory card holder? Maybe a little off the safety topic.
Cheap touchscreen compatible gloves?
A partridge in a pear tree?
Edit: something to carry around proof of insurance/fly id etc. Maybe offer the service of printing and laminating such things?
