New Feature :star_struck:

• New Top 10 stats for Drones

A couple of months ago we added a brand new Drone Fleet feature to your profile.

This integrates tightly with Good 2 Go and allows you to run scenarios with just one click of your favourite drone.

Given how much data we have on drones, it made sense to publish some real-time stats.

We’ve added a whole bunch of stats to highlight the most popular drones across our members’ fleets, the most popular new Class Marked drones and the most popular Legacy drones.

We’ve also added some stats for the members that need the most help with their addiction. A new Top Drone Collectors section is also included

Take a look at the stats, you might be surprised by what’s currently topping the charts!

The stats are live and updated in real-time so you’ll always get the latest data.

You can check out the Top 10 stats for Drones at https://dronescene.co.uk/about#Top10Drones

UI / UX Change :desktop_computer:

• Display the member Forename next to the Username when checking people in at meetups

When checking people in at meetups the member forename is now displayed alongside their username.

This should make it easier to remember who’s who.

(To protect your privacy, we never reveal your surname to other club members)

UI / UX Change :desktop_computer:

• The Council Map layer now returns to your previous map view

– Requested by @AndyT-V @D0c.Col @Rocket

When you view a council boundary the map automatically zooms out to show the whole boundary for the given Local Authority so you can see exactly where their jurisdiction ends.

The downside to this was that you’d often lose your place on the map.

We’ve added some new functionally to automatically move the map back to your previous position and your previous zoom level when you turn the council boundary map layer off.

Bug Fix :beetle:

– Reported by @GI.Gem

There was a bug in the map on mobile devices that stopped the zoom controls working.

If you used your fingers to zoom in as close as you could on the map, it would activate an elastic-type spring-back which caused the map to flash momentarily and it then broke the zoom controls. This meant you could no longer zoom in or out using your fingers.

Bug now fixed.

Other Random Stuff :palm_tree:

• Top 10 stats for Meetups to exclude low-turnout meets

Many years ago the @Committee deemed that it takes 3 or more people to constitute a club meetup as per https://greyarro.ws/badges/145/facilitator-bronze

We’ve put a minor update in the Top 10 stats for Meetups so the stats will now exclude meetups of less than three people.

Beta Tester Programme :technologist:t2:

We run a Drone Scene Beta Tester Programme and if you’re a Gold Member you may be eligible to join.

What do you get out of joining the Beta Tester Programme?

  • Early access to every single new feature on Drone Scene the moment it’s been developed
    – Often weeks or months ahead of the feature being rolled out to the public / production version of Drone Scene
  • The opportunity to help steer the direction of new features
  • Access to the Drone Scene (BETA) forum category
    – Shushhhhh, this part is a secret
  • A very exclusive badge to adorn your profile
    – And who doesn’t love a badge? :star_struck:

What do we need in return?

  • We need the new features testing
    – Before we release them out in the wild :scream:
  • We need you to use the BETA version all the time
    – Instead of the current public / production version
    – And why wouldn’t you? It’s packed with all the shiny new stuff that nobody else has access to yet :star_struck:

If this is something you might be interested in helping us with please get in touch and let us know why you think you’d be a great addition to the group

Thank you for the updates. Really appreciate the EU remote pilot ID, and love tracking stats so enjoying the info page.

For the first name check in feature, is this the name under account preferences or is it taken from billing/license?
And does check in refer to clicking the maybe/will make it buttons, or is this something else?
Cheers.

A meetup organiser has access to a “checkin” feature for their meetup.

This presents them with a list of names of people that clicked to say they might attend / will attend so they can tick people in as they arrive at the meetup.

It looks similar to this:

You’ll see we’ve added the forename beside the username to make it easier for the meetup organiser to manage.

The value used is the forename you enter on your profile page at https://dronescene.co.uk/profile

To confirm, this feature is only available to the meetup organiser, and is only displayed on the meetup checkin tool.

Thanks for that! It’s surprising how many people look blank when you ask them their username or else give a name from another of their internet areas
