Amazing! That place was huge when I was a kid but I’ve only ever seen it on the horizon. Much plan a visit. Thx for sharing.

Death ray machine aimed by a pair of AT-ATs.

It’s an impressive bit of kit seen close up like this; I’ve only ever actually seen if from the train, about a mile away!

Blimey Gaz,

Great stuff - what sort of permissions (and hoops to jump through) to get to fly there? They even have visitors turning off their mobiles going there.

No permission needed as long as you take off and land outside there land and it’s not a no fly zone by the CAA , always try to fly when places are closed to public so no issue with flying over crowds etc .

It’s an incredible place to visit - my favourite bit is that they have a pair of parabolic dishes in line with each other. You wisper into one and your wife have hear bloody everything on the other one. It’s uncanny. Just like real life. She knows everything. Ha!

On the Manchester Univeristy pages (who do research there) and the Jodrell Bank website they do specifically forbid drones. That’s why I was asking. I can see it’s not marked as a no-fly zone on DroneScene, so you were perfectly fine to fly there based on that.

Lovely footage.

Think that’s just there policy regarding no drones but only applies if you are on there land .
