yea ive emailed for some more context as to why its more restricted and whats caused it
and like ya say if it were those imbeciles, ,but to say its gonna be monitored by Police etc this time
but yh the circuit and Segro gateway, is weird but i guess if we wanna be able to fly these areas we just have to play ball.
Ugh ! a lot of nothing really - sad as they were so cool with us all last time
I guess I wont be booking time off or putting in requests to fly this time - it just makes the last time more special I guess - maybe they will review this closer to the time - I will email them in Dec to see if anything has changed before I plan to fly.
Still seems a bit off and a bit OTT but them da rules that we need to follow and be respectful of I guess
Airside safety and security considerations is a very general catch all to say no ![]()
I had put in an application via that Portal, but had an error when I sent it. I didn’t know if it had been submitted or not.
I have today had an email from one of the people who dealt with Permits last time, so it had been sent.
It essentially said the same as Mikeys message above, and the same red hatched plan, concluding with " You may wish to review, or cancel, your drone flight request in light of the above.
Please let me know how you wish to proceed."
I am tempted to ask for carte blanche approval to fly anywhere within the FRZ, excluding their named Exclusion Areas, so that on any particular runway closure day I can make a decision on weather conditions etc, phone ATC, and just fly.
I mean, how could they reasonably refuse that?
Not to say they won’t refuse it, but if so, it sends a clear message.
EDIT
His email is worded such that this may alter, so in case it does revert, I do not want to burn my bridges with them!
yea i am hoping the boundaries change to like last year so we can get closer shots etc.
I know. I was planning for so many Avata 360 flights, especially at the Aeropark.
My last years Aeropark footage is my 3rd most viewed video.
All those dead planes and they’ve said No!
They have excluded the viewing area too, up by the M1.
It makes me wonder about the effectiveness of their drone detection kit.
ATC phoned my when I was in the air at that viewing area, to ask if it was me flying over an aircraft on the apron - around 1 mile from where I was.
Yea legolad said there was a guy flying over the apron etc,
And from what i see on the map the red outine u can fly the aeropark and the vieweing area near m1 side
Having zoomed in (a lot!), the M1 viewing area does look OK.
But the Aeropark is a no-go area I’m afraid - according to the plan. I shall ask them in my email response to clarify this one area though.
I didn’t burn any bridges last time with the Donington people either, so I will be resurrecting a request to them, especially as their 2026 track schedule is showing no events on the Wednesday closures.
