EGR323 - North West Transit Corridor (NWTC)

Uncontrolled airspace

I told him that too :pensive:

You did, but I was not sure how to interpret the information on CAA.

I fully appreciate all your time to respond and help.

I just do not understand why this class G airspace is on the drone assist app, if it does not affect drone operations. Seems to allow confusion, especially for drone pilots who are relatively new and trying to learn regulations such as EGR.

I don’t know why they put Class D airspace on their apps either

Valid point , on the image I am looking at, Class D are not shown, but Class G is. That didnt help my confusion, I just saw a big red spot along with the airport FRZ and presumed its non permitted since 20th Feb for my little drone

Its not on ours

Has no one yet suggested that you kick Drone Assist into touch and use our own Drone Scene instead?

Surpassingly not! I only use AA because of the handy app on the phone for a quick check before take off.

You can always add the Drone Scene icon to your home screen and you will have the same functionality.

Or even reply

@AVIDronesuk can you share the response from Altitude Angel with us please?

Is this any use?

Thanks for the link @timxjr1300 but the contents of that document have been shared in the above posts, I don’t think it tells us anything we didn’t already know

Hi,

I have made countless phone calls, NATS are not even sure as things stand and are going to get back to me. They said the area is “not controlled” however ultimately belongs to Manchester ATC, and they might be best to ask/clarify.

I will feed back once I know, I fly a lot in the Warrington area, so i am keen to find out and clarify.

Call them

I called them - They gave me a number for ATC operations, the number just rings out. Typical.

I have just emailed AROps at CAA.

The operator stated as this is no longer class D, this is what the hold up on clarification is Class D predecessors like you mentioned, but this did not include UAS systems, whereas class G is uncontrolled by ATC.
I personally don’t think it will be an issue, I’m just trying to get clarification for a lot of drone users in this area.

The remarks also say “flight permitted by all aircraft” this includes drones, based on certain criteria.

See here

Did Altitude Angel not get back to you either?
