EGR323 - North West Transit Corridor (NWTC)

Further to any EGR323 North West Transit Corridor (NWTC) confusion re the recent airspace classification changes a couple of weeks ago:

An update was published by CAA today:

Source: https://skywise.caa.co.uk/alerts/alert/ENBJYe0eJ1oxWs0TvvyK

To be clear, you can still fly your drone here within the realms of the usual airspace restrictions and drone code that would apply to any drone flight.

How many times did you say that.

Just been reading this article by skywise myself.

I think its a good response that they have updated the post. It should of been included originally, perhaps an oversight for unmanned flights.

Included in what? :person_shrugging:t2:

And did Altitude Angel ever get back to you @AVIDronesuk ? If they did, can you share their response please?

Isn’t that the answer to the ultimate question?

about time they clarified it as it did say

"The NWTC will provide Class G airspace up to 1500 FT AMSL.

Above 1500 FT AMSL, the airspace remains Class D and is renamed Manchester Control Area 6 (CTA-6) (extending up to 3500 FT AMSL)."

the clarification was needed to put in the 400ft zone.

Precisely my point, should of had better clarity from the off stating the 400ft, and maybe mentioning about UAV.

Altitude angel did not respond. I did however speak to Manchester ATC a couple of weeks ago, who control this area and they gave me the details for CAA operations. I called and they said it is very unlikely to affect unmanned aircraft but were unable to confirm verbally and asked me to email in. Since then I have seen an email response stating it does not affect drones.

Then obviously this new skywise article update is published, so I would imagine that they are having a lot of questions so decided to make updated alert.

I was never against any ones facts or opinions about the matter, but was looking for it to be written from an official source that it does not affect drone use.

I think this has been a worthwhile topic, and thanks for all responses for any questions.

This topic is now one of the top responses to EGR323 on a google search!

Sorry to hear that, thanks for letting us know

It certainly has

Probably too busy plotting every house in the UK who has solar panels on its roof as a ground hazard.

The legal restriction was corrected on 11th March:

But I believe Altitude Angel have not yet corrected their data …

Par for the course

Just like certain high rised structures they have listed that have been gone for years.

I found this article very helpful, as the NWRC is shown in red on DroneScene.
Would it be helpful to put the airpace classications on by any chance (Class G in this case)?

I see Drone Assist has now updated the remarks on this flight restriction to say “The paragraphs listed (a) do not apply to unmanned aerial systems flying in accordance with visual line of site below 400ft AGL…

Does this clarify now that we can fly a drone (under 250g) in this area?

Hi @Dean21, it looks as though you’re quite new here :wave:t2:

Why not nip over to the Introductions page, and say hello properly and tell us a bit about yourself. :+1:t2:
