Next thing I think I need to research and work on is colour grading - the auto grading from Capcut just doesn’t quite look right I don’t think? Too colourful I think.
@Bootsy@AlbionDrones I was wondering if they were too quick - I just want to keep it interesting and engaging. I think my average shot length is around 3 seconds which interestingly is actually longer than the average length of a film shot on television and in movies - difference there though I guess is the amount of visual information to take in (in a movie, there would likely only be the subject and no background).
I guess in editing, to me it looks right since I can anticipate what is coming? I will try longer scenes for the next video! I feel like 2 minutes is about the right length overall though.
The clips are short due to beat syncing at the start of the vid, it’s quite a fast beat. That said, as the vid gets to a slower beat track, the clips become longer. What I do it to sync it with of the sets of beats. It’s hard to explain, but hopefully you follow.
If you check out my Cherhill vid towards end at 10:02, you will see what I mean.
Honestly, it as just an opinion, we all have them, you don’t have to take it on board, you do you…
I know many say keep the shots short, 5 seconds or less - I have seen videos on YT where they fade out the video at 5 seconds, then fade it back up with the next bit of the same footage, for 5 sec and then fade out again… Almost as if trying to edit it by a rulebook…
Personally I edit to the music I am using, and that can meean some shots are short, others are a lot longer, it also depends on the footage - an epic mountain or seascape can have a full minute long shot if it keeps you engaged, or it could just be a few seconds…
You do you, edit is for what you would want to watch, and if others like ti, then great, if they dont then thats their lookout…
