Entry into FPV

A reasonable plan… with the advantage that the O4 is the latest coolest cat in the block right now.

oh my head hurts so much now

thank you so much for all the time and help, going to need to do A LOT more research into this, half of me is thinking just go stand alone FPV and be done with it, but I know i’ll end up buying the N3’s one day anyway

Thanks anyway, i’ve taken enough of your time now, appreciate it

Some sort of goggle is needed for any FPV.

N3s are a good cheap choice…

Just to split your head open a little more. I’m going for the Integra over the N3 due to the interoperability between different generations. I plan to build a few more quads with the older O3 Air Unit, which the N3 Goggles don’t support. I also use the Mini 3 Pro, which might be worth hooking up to the Integra for a laugh (though plenty of folks say the functionality is nerfed). One other benefit of the Integra are the individual OLED screens, rather than a single IPS panel. They’re also smaller.

The drawback for me, especially since I’ll be primarily using the O4 Pro, is the data rate being capped at 50mbps, instead of the potential 60 with the N3. I’ll also lose the Race Mode, which reduces the latency down to something like 15ms.

Final thought, if you aren’t going back to use older tech, the N3’s will be great.

Yeah, he has the neo and no older tech. I really don’t recommend he gets the earlier generation goggles.

nope, my head is broken now.

a few days ago I wished I just got the Neo FPV package.

After reading all this, I want to go hang myself for not buying the Neo FPV

Have no idea what to do yet, think if I do go DJI then think I’ll go N3, 04 air way, as hopefully I’ll get the mini pro 4 soon.

But I may just go stand alone FPV and not over complicate it more than it is.

Whilst I’m an Avata 2 owner and I love flying it.

The only advice I give you is, if you want to fly Bando, don’t go with the DJI Avata 2.

Whilst it will fly ok, when it crashes (because it will) it’s expensive to repair, compared to build your own FPV.

I know from experience. :rofl::rofl:

Hi mate, sorry what’s Bando ?

Another thing to consider.

Do you wear or need regular vision corrective glasses?

If you get the G-N3 you can wear them over your glasses, however the integra and G3’s need to have diopter lens installed as there not room for regular glasses.

An abandoned building, which some FPV pilots fly in, through and around.

Ah thanks, yeah I do know of quite a few round my way

You learn summat new everyday I never knew what bando meant either, although it’s mentioned on here frequent - now I knows

Edit : I’ve steered clear of the dark side is my excuse :see_no_evil:

The G3 comes with them fitted though, is that right? Have a real urge to bite the bullet on an Avata 2 but only have one working eye and even that one needs some help.

Yes, the G3 has adjustable diopters and you can also install a set of lens (that are included with them), you can also have custom prescription lens fitted too, but you have to buy them from your opticians.

Hi All.

Just want to say thank you for all the help, I think i’ve decided, but wanted to check i’m right.

So going to go with the DJI FPV controller ( assuming I can find one used or on a deal), use this for sim, then get the N3 goggles.

I think, using this, I can “play” for a while with Neo and if I want to go more I can get the pocket controller and 04 Air and adapt a small dedicated quad for FPV

Am I correct in this ?

Make sure it’s the “3” The others won’t work.

To be sure you want the one without the antenna.
This one:

I got mine direct from DJI, I have not found cheaper.

If you get this controller, you won’t need to buy another unless you really want to. You can use it to control any quad with O4 air unit as long as the SBUS wire is connected to the flight controller of the quad (and configured).
As the man himself has shown recently…

(He uses O3 and goggles 3, but O4 and the goggles N3 are the same as far as I can see… I’ve not tried it yet myself.)

OK… he will start to confuse you at about 3 mins in with the whole DJI compatibility confusion… don’t worry!

I glad you said this, I couldn’t find any difference between the control 2 and 3, I thought they would both work ?

No… Controller 2 I think may work with goggles 3 and O4 air unit… but for the goggles N3 and Neo you need the controller 3.

The key is the way the signal goes…

With controller 2, the control signal goes straight to the quad.

With controller 3, the control signal goes to the goggles and then to the quad via the goggle’s return link. Hence why there’s no antenna. JB does mention this in that video I linked.

Antenna on the controller 2…

No antenna on controller 3…
