I wonder if the Government of Québec will seek to sue him for the damage. One things for sure, he is not going to get off lightly for this, regardless of the guilty plea.
I’m sure they may make an example of him( this) especially with the all the drone saga( ban) going on as we know it etc.
Flew it a mile and a half into the fire zone and lost sight of it; no shit, Sherlockl. At least the motiviation for this stupidity is rational within it’s parameters; he wanted footage of the damage, presumably to post online and get followers.
As well as the collision with the Scooper, he has contravened FAA regulations regarding VLOS and flying in the same airspace as emergency vehicles; I hope he gets charged with those as well! His reckless action was clearly planned and considered, not a spur of the moment bad choice, looks like he went out with the intention of filiming the damage and flew from the car park roof with that in mind. But, then, I hope that his punishment is not too draconian, example or not, because at least he manned up and 'fessed up, admitting responsibility rather than trying to weasel his way out of it.
Kirky has made the point that it was a particularly unwise moment to fly in this way! We don’t need more neative drone stories at the best of times, and with the East Anglian & New Jersey affairs fresh in everybody’ s memory and the Ginger Twatweasel back in the White House imposing tarriffs, this is not the best of times…
It’s something that he has has agreed to pay the full amount of the aircraft repair bill to the government of Quebec.
