Failed to activate Dji RC 2 for the second time

Having returned and received a refund from Amazon UK for the return of 1 x DJI mini 4 pro and 1 x Controller RC 2. When trying to activate the RC 2 message is returned “Activation failed. Check and try again.
“Activation failed. Error code: Server error (-2). Check and try again”

So logic suggested I buy from the DJI

So I received the same order from DJI 30/08/24 and today 31/08/24 The same message “Activation failed. Error code: Server error (-2). Check and try again. Contact DJI Support if the issue persists
So once again I am on this unfortunate treadmill of trying to resolve an issue not created by me.

So sent after sales a request:

“Unless You can action and resolve this ongoing issue, I request you arrange collection and return my money in full”.
Rumour has it the logic boards are dodgy

So I have had two drones and not one has left the ground. I think it is a ploy to use our payment to generate interest on their bank account before returning it back

At least the sun is shining today, so a walk to my local airfield to watch the aircraft, to get my fix

It has been said in various Facebook groups, by DJI reps, that the error code -2 requires the drone to be returned to DJI.

Yes, correct. I have been notified from CJI in writing that the RC 2 Controller, that was supplied with the Mini 4 pro could not be activated due to the incorrect Firmware that had been installed at the factory. So all those disappointed customers who have returned their combo purchases and spent hours thinking “like myself” we were as daft as a brush, have now been vindicated. Most of the negative reviews on Amazon UK relate to this issue.

Anyway that could all change if the same issue with the replacement goods are still there.

Could you copy/paste/share that notification (verbatim) from DJI please?

At present the email I received has a lot of my personal details within and as such I will not be posting it to any third party. This action may also jeopardize my final outcome, as I am still awaiting my replacement.

I have been looking to upgrade from the mini 3 to mini 4 pro. Now after reading this I’m deliberating or has this been resolved. But when I do decide I will probably buy instore at dronesafestore.

You could redact the personal data in the email before sending it, including your name and any references that would lead to you, it’s just the technical aspects of the issue that would be of interest, and therefore would have no detrimenatal effect on your claim.

It might help others who may have had the same issue, but in any case don’t let it put you off getting a replacement, you’ll love it. My mini4p has been faultless and the RC2 with its latest firmware update is awsome ( a 1000nit screen would have been welcome but hayho).

Purchased from Amazon UK early August Mini 4 pro combo with RC 2 Controller Activation failed. Returned and Amazon Refunded within ten days of receipt. “Amazon collected”

Purchased from DJI UK Mid August Mini 4 Pro combo with RC 2 Controller Activation Failed
Returned Late August requesting a refund in full!. DJI got back to me and suggested I have a replacement as they believe I had a device that had not been loaded with the correct firmware.

They did suggest. I return the purchased goods back to them. I refused and reminded them that it was their obligation to arrange collection at their cost.

The bottom line was they did collect at their cost, DHL UK sent to Denmark!. I received the replacement again from Denmark 07/09/24 took about 6 minutes to activate successfully.
