Fantoft Stavkirke, Norway

A half-hour on the bus from Bergen city centre followed by a short walk up a steep hill brings you to Fantoft Stavkirke (Fantoft Stave Church). The original church was built in 1150 in Fortun before being moved around 100 miles to Fantoft in Bergen in 1883. It was completely destroyed by an arsonist in 1992.

A five-year reconstruction project began immediately, resulting in the church as it stands today.
