HI All I have found a Mavic Air 2 for what looks like a good price at first glance but its has 2 faults and states that it had “water ingress”
FAULTS:
1 ) Gimbal overload warning - gimbal not levelling to the horizon by about 5 degrees
2 ) Drone Cannot “see” the battery (even a new battery) code 30064 “cannot take off” warning error code 12 displayed – it’s obviously thinking “no battery no flying"
My questions are do you think its repairable for a reasonable price? And if so is it worth a punt?
Im fairly good with my hands and a tool kit but lack the drone knowledge to know if its something worth taking on. And obviously I dont want to end up spending the price of a new one to fix it when I could just purchase a new one lol
Thoughts?
Unless it is a really low price - about 15% of new I would steer clear.
“Water ingress” can mean a lot of things and even if you get the aircraft flying again, unless it was pure , distilled water that flooded the drone, there may well be damage to the electronics that appears later.
I have a little bit of experience in waterlogged drones having dunked an Inspire in the sea and found it at the next low tide. It no longer works despite my best efforts
That depends solely on ones own personal definition of “reasonable price”
Agreed.
A starting point then would be the price of the drone, then approx £400 quid to repair it. Assuming you can get parts for the Air 2 yet?
At what price point could you get a second hand Air, complete with all the trimmings, that hasn’t been for a swim and is hiding further underlying issues?
Lol yeah the guy wants 375 for it with controller and battery etc but Im sure given the circumstances could knock him down more but Ive just been onto DJI support online chat and they say you cant purchase parts only a repair service. Add to that shipping costs etc and youre flying into almost brand new price territory
nevermind was worth a thought although wishful thinking. Cheers for the sound advice both of you
Maybe a good buy for anyone with an Air 2 that wants a spare controller, extra battery plus spare motors and body parts etc
