Firkin Point, Loch Lomond - Added to Lakes and Reservoirs in Scotland

I have just added this to the map of places to fly your drone at Drone Scene:

Land owner permission requirements unknown.

Free car park and toilets on the NW shores of Loch Lomond, a good place to break journey, stretch legs and fly the drone. Used by campervans and wild campers, so be quiet first thing in the morning, but otherwise a bit of a hidden gem.

TOAL from the beach, some interesting dead trees in the water to add interest…

The originator declared that this location was not inside a Flight Restriction Zone at the time of being flown on 22/04/2023. It remains the responsibility of any pilot to check for any changes before flying at the same location.

I’ve flown here too @AlbionDrones

I want to fly here @AlbionDrones, have you got any other tips or advice?

Go down to the beach and you can fly without worrying about the trees, if you go early be careful not to make too much noise and annoy the wild campers, later in the day it is busy with folks stopping for the toilet, but generally not too bad…

Staying at Loch Lomond castle apartment, Arden at end of month and looking for nice sunrise/ sunset locations. Will check on photopills for sun positions before I go, thanks

Enjoy, the autumn colours should be coming through by then… LochChon is another good spot for landscapes… Soo wish we were headed back up again for Autumn…

I’ve just got in from filming a wedding there today (at The Cruin next door). There’s a hint of autumn in the trees.

Worth heading over to The Trossachs too, as Suzanne said, check out Loch Chon. Also Loch Ard with it’s wee boathouse and Loch Drunkie is a must. Also not too far a drive from there up to Rannoch Moor & Glencoe.

@Drumsagard , Thanks for the tips, I have Loch Chon on my radar, I’m fairly new to drone flying, I took this shot of Loch Leven whilst on a stay in Kenmore last December

Thanks for your suggestions.
Yes I looked on Dronescene and have been doing a bit of YT research. So far I have Loch Achray, Loch Venachar, Loch Rusky, St Fillans, Loch Arklet and the Falls of Falloch on my shortlist. Thankfully I’m retired as I now need to consult Photopills to work out sunrise/set locations!
As mentioned in my reply to Albion Drones I was up last December,in and around Glencoe area, really pleased with this one of Lochan Na H-Achlaise, but I have no Idea how it’s pronounced!

I am principally a non-drone photographer, but realised that at a lot of coastal locations the drone could be positioned in places I couldn’t be thereby opening up different compositions
