It happened, I was testing some of the flight settings, was a bit bored.
Went to land and pulled back on the right stick, it was in a moment little concentration, and reversed into the wall. And yes, I was in S mode.
It only fell a meter. Amazingly the only damage seems to be a very slight scuff on the gimble.
Should I claim a new one under the 2 year scheme, or just do some test flights? I just don’t know if anything important electric is damaged, and might one day just fall out of the sky?
I would check all your settings first, re calibrate the gimbal & IMU etc, make sure no errors are flagging up, go & find a good open space & check everything with a test flight in the hope you feel comfortable with it & all is ok,
On testing you should know as these are quite good at showing when things are not right etc or forward thinking rather,
That unfortunately can / could be said about any drone “ that has not had a fall or crash “ & has always worked fine but then decides to take a tumble for what ever reason as sadly things can / do go wrong but it’s your choice, I’d say after a good test etc I’d like to believe if all is good & it’s just the scrape then fingers crossed id like to think all will be fine, let us know how you get on
Edit : also make sure you give it a good visual inspection ….
I agree with @Kirky they are pretty good at grumping at you if there is a problem. Is your picture still looking ok too, is the scuff on any part of the lense as they use the camera to also steady themselves. Just do.some low level text flights in open space away from obsticles. You are not an idiot, a skight lack of concentration can happen. “Why did i do that” goes through your head. For the short future just eatch it, does it do exactly what you are telling it.
Don’t forget, you don’t have to send it off immediately (if it all seems to be working ok).
Hopefully it won’t happen, but you might have another ‘issue’ within the 2-years of the cover, and so you can get both ‘issues’ sorted out in one claim.
Andy, I did exactly the same thing at the Big Meet, a nasty tree jumped in front while I was in sports mode.
We all make mistakes, the important thing is we learn from them.
I tested camera/gimbal, movement focus and zoom. Then in C mode fly towards house forwards backwards and both left and right sideways to ensure sensors are working.
I am happy all is ok but will keep an eye on the small crack at the front.
As BudgieUK said above, it can be sent for repair later if anything else happens.
I would drill the smallest hole i could at each end a put a drop of super glue on th crack. It is almost guaranteed to grow with any further impact or possibly even vibration
