First crash - sports mode

Perfect flying weather, early (for me) morning, dog was happy, park was deserted… So I select sports mode, pedal to the metal, what could possibly go wrong?

I’m now filling in my UPS forms for DJI

oops!

damn those things can grow quick

I’m sure that you knew but it’s worth repeating for newcomers to flying that using Sports Mode disables the obstacle avoidance. If the Mini 3 is anything like my Mini 2 it won’t have sideways obstacle avoidance anyway.

And trees are magnetic. An open stretch of road near me has just two trees along its mile length. Yet when a typical RTI occurs (male driver aged 25 or under, no other car involved, after midnight on a Friday or Saturday) the car always hits one of the trees!

Yeah! I saw the “collision avoidance disabled” warning, and was actually very careful to avoid collisions! However, those bl**** trees crept up on me from the side - I’ll be much more careful next time!

Ahh, in sports mode, I never move the drone sideways anyway and always keep the drone in sight.:wink:

LOL I didn’t knowingly move it sideways  That’s the problem!

Hmmm something moved the drone sideways. Can you upload the flight data to Airdata ? That’ll show if there was any stick inputs. It’s easy to move the stick ever so slightly off centre when flying :wink:

Check out May 19th, 2024 06:57AM | General / Notifications | DJI Fly log 1.13.1 | United Kingdom | Airdata UAV - I’m not that experienced but I reckon it was user error.

Edit: it was user error looks like I’m gonna need a bigger field - with no trees - next time!

The stick wasn’t slightly off centre it was 100% left.

I know - really screwed up on this one :unamused:

Never mind, it’s easy to touch/ move the stick without realising you’re doing it.:wink:
