Has anyone else experience a neo flying at a slight angle. This is the first time we actually took it out. It was not exactly horizontal but had a noticable tilt to one side. Also when flying (lucky I was not far off the ground) it was hovering and it just shut down and dropped to the deck. Took a bit to wake it back up again. Once it was going I managed to get it to go through the holes in the side of a council bin and out of the other side. That is the tightest gap I have attempted with the drone. Going to get the batteries charged up again and try some more low level flights but I do not want it in the air if it is just going to drop for no reason.
I think as most would say Russ get the Airdata mate post it here to let someone see if they can find if there’s a problem mate
Yep going to have to do that. Just remembering how to do it. Should be easy once I load it up and it should remind me
The Neo will auto land if it detects something below, try it with your hand
Oh yeah it does do that but this time it was waist height and just shut the rotors off and dropped to the floor. It was as though the battery has disconnected (but had not)
Then its faulty and needs to go back to DJI
Will give it another go and see what happens. First time I flew it so will have to see if it is something I did wrong.
I think the Neo recognises hands, when I tried to fly through the “shell” on Cleveleys beach, on getting to the narrow bit it rose up away from “ground” & crashed into roof.
I have had mine do a few very odd things and doing some research I see a lot of mention of the IMU needed to be calibrated and this was kinda true for mine - if I did it then it behaved and then the last update seems to have solved it from what I can tell.
So do a firmware update - reload it if you can connect it to a PC with the DJI Assist program on it as I have a feeling mine didn’t load correctly via the phone update but doing it via a PC/Mac has seem to solve the issue then do all the calibrations ( compass / IMU ) and with a bit of luck you might be OK
I am yet to fly mine again with the controller as that is where it seems to have issues - guess it don’t like to be told what to do haha but using the spotlight / follow me it seems sound - used it the other day and it was really impressive.
As per @LE60LAD comments, update the firmware.
The stability of mine improved significantly after the last update.
I usually fly mine, using the goggles 3 and FPV 3 RC and it behaves every time
Thanks for the replies will have a go at the updates again.
One other thing I was going to ask, yesterday I tried one of the built in functions. I set it to do a 2 meter circle. However, in an emergency is there a way to stop it. Raise of a hand or turn the controller on to override etc. Whilst it was doing the circle I did think,… can I stop it if I need to.
getting your phone or controller to connect after the flight has started might be a bit of an issue too as it takes a min or two and by that time your in the tree.
For the follow and spotlight mode you just stop moving and hold your hand out and eventually the Neo will move towards you and land but it is quite a bit hit and miss. I have been using it while on a MTB and walking in the woods and getting it to land has been a bit problematic at best as if you move forward it goes backwards away from you so you just have to stand and hope it see’s you.
I suspect while it does an orbit or a rocket etc it’s not looking to see any form of gestures as its moving and wont see a hand. I guess you just have to really know how far out it will fly and what it may hit before you do these sort of flight modes without a controller already connected.
Tennis racket.
