So I was getting a bit miffed losing a few key videos in Iceland and around sunny Essex due to a lack of focus. You only know it’s gone wrong when you get home and look in the big screen. So I’ve been looking into the focus modes and what you can do to make sure things stay sharp,
I go through AF, AFC, MF and Focus Peaking Threshold - possibly the biggest help most people haven’t heard of…
Hope it helps prevent a few lost videos and pictures…
Cheers

That’s a cracking video for us Mavic 2 users Ian !.
It does piss me off when you are in the middle of a flight and the bloody thing decides that it wants to focus on something it already has for the last 5 minutes !.
Keep up the great work, and ,Happy Flying !
Brilliant, another informative video thanks Ian @ianinlondon
Peak Focus Threshold now turned on
@mickydd Mick, it really is the most amazing helper… Every time you see it on screen you’re reminded “Great, I’m in focus” which just makes all the difference… Cheers, Ian
This has happened to me too. Thought the lens was dirty causing it to focus on the smudge. Will check out the vid tomorrow
I use manual focus and set the white box on the wheel just below the second line from above before infinity. I do this after stumbling upon an American YouTuber who did quite a lot of research to come up with perfect focus. It works well for me
Yet another helpful video @ianinlondon
Thanks
@MiMo28 Yep, funny how on a DSLR and the Mavic, the best infinity spot always seems to be just before infinity
Another excellent tutorial Ian.
Having only recently upgraded from the Mavic Air to the Mavic2 Pro, you have reminded me that I need to spend a lot more time discovering new menu / control options available to me!
The focus peaking is a great tip. I am used to using this in manual on my Fuji X cameras, but hadn’t realised this was a option on my Mavic.
As you say, it’s good to have switch on, if only as a reminder to double check focus when recording
Thanks for the tip, you now have a new subscriber
@BrianB Thanks again Brian! As I said, enjoy the range and signal of the M2
@JonD Thanks Jon! And thanks for jumping on board
Cheers
Ian
I am Ian, that’s the trouble! spending too much time enjoying the flying, but need to spend a bit more time learning to get the best from it!
Great tutorial - thanks for posting
