Flying abroad - Oman

Anyone done this? It seems to be technically possible, but bureaucratic… It has to be a commercial flight (I can spoof that as the drones are all company owned and I do some commercial work) and you have to specify 15 days in advance where and when you intend to fly and for how long. Which is all a bit of a faff, but I have a trip coming up where I am working for 2 days and then 5 days in Muscat and have three days off in the middle. Thinking about driving up into the mountains with my Seestar S50 anyway, so I could take the Mini 4 Pro without busting my luggage allowance…

Dunno about Oman, but surely the drone and its batteries will be taken on as hand luggage ? I think its a big no no putting batteries in hold luggage ? ( and the way airport staff treat hold luggage, I wouldnt put anything in a suitcase that wasnt clothing) Heres a hint, if you dont want them to check your luggage/ bags when you arrive in Muscat, just tell them you have non halal meat produce in your bag. ( sister lived and worked there for three years with the MOD ):wink:
Warning, if youre hiring a car out there, do not speed or drive through red traffic lights, or do anything silly on the roads. No swearing if someone cuts you up on the road etc. The Omani police take a dim view of what we would consider minor traffic offences.

I’ve spent quite a lot of the last six months there, which is why I’ve not been flying much here.

Not worried about travelling with the drone (apart from having the right paperwork!) or driving (my usual hotel is right next to the sprawling Omani traffic police HG, driver licensing centre and traffic safety institute, so I know how seriously they take it).

It was more about the paperwork for actually flying. I assume the man from the ministry isn’t going to follow me out into the mountains to ensure I follow the timing to the letter, but I was looking for more practical advice - like how long a flight window and how many flights you’d get away with registering to give me some flexibility and room for error…
