Flying in EGBS SHOBDON FRZ at Eardisland, Herefordshire

Hi there,
I’ve just treated myself to a DJI Mini 4k and I’d like to use it when my wife and I go camping..
Our first trip I have planned is to Eardisland. I’ve spotted in the dji app that it’s in an “Enhanced Warning Zone” given there’s an airport approx 3 miles away is this a total no no.. or (as i’ve read) I can unlock the app but take care whilst flying (we aren’t going to be in line with the runway but obviously planes do circle.) or should i ignore the dji app and always use the nats website..

As the drone is <249g and the airport is only for light aircraft (more noise than speed..). am i to keep it below a certain ceiling and only when i can’t see / hear any aircraft

Welcome the input to keep me on the right side of the authorities.
Apologies if I’ve dropped this in the wrong category.. I’m normally more of a reader than a poster.

Hi @streetwiz it looks as though you’re quite new here :wave:t2:

Why not nip over to the Introductions page, and say hello properly and tell us a bit about yourself. :+1:t2:

I’ve updated your topic title to more accurately reflect your question and to help others who might be searching for the same place.

Hopefully you meant the Eardisland in Herefordshire and not somewhere else?

we visit Eardisland every year and it’s a NO NO, i to have drone’s and been told not to fly.
i know there are plane’s, helicopters and training pilots, all day, we stay at the caravan site
which aircraft fly over, so don’t fly.

Thanks for that.. It’s just that the fact it is an orange “enhanced warning zone” clouded the water as it were.. and the fact it says you can unlock but take responsibility didn’t help..

You don’t need to unlock - DJI have discontinued the geo zones in the uk Here just make sure your flysafe database is up to date, but obviously you have the FRZ underneath to which you’d have to get permission :+1:

It’s a total no no, without ATC clearance in advance.

As per above picture, that Flight Restriction Zone is active 24hrs a day.

If you want to fly within that red area you must first get permission from Shobdon ATC by calling 01568 708 369.

More information is available on Drone Scene.

Ignore DJI map zones, they are wildly inaccurate and widely discredited.

Do not rely on this, its DJI made up :poop:

Use our own, made by drone pilots for drone pilots
